Got a GoPro HD from the family for Christmas, went up to Mt Buller on the weekend and did a bit of testing too see what works well and what doesn't. Love the raw quality but still got a bit to go with the edited/encoded files...enjoy!
curious what resolution setting you had the camera on and what program you used to edit/render it. I've tested mine out a bit around here and it looks much better than this one when uploaded on vimeo.

*edit: just realized I was watching it with HD turned off.

Very nice vid!
I've downloaded original file on the harddrive. Resolution is amazing. The wobbling is almost unvisible. It shakes a little bit too much, but... You ride on DH course, not A-Line ;)

<object width='500' height='333'><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true' /><param name='AllowScriptAccess' value='always' /><param name='movie' value='http://www.pinkbike.com/v/118143' /><embed src='http://www.pinkbike.com/v/118143' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='500' height='333' allowFullScreen='true' AllowScriptAccess='always' /></embed></object>

See if this works. The quality is a lot better on my computer, but uploading it to the internet killed the quality a bit.

Or not... how does one embed?

Hey Lee, I shot in 1280x270 (setting 3) at 60 FPS, the main reason I used this setting was the higher frame rate makes the vid a bit smoother.. What your thoughts on this?

I edited it using Sony Vegas 9.0 Pro and rendered it using the Sony AVC/H.264 Codec at an average of 10Mb/s. I'm still tweaking the settings to get the best quality, but this is def. the best so far. I recommend you use Sony Vegas as it is pretty powerful and has all the codecs stock. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/vegaspro

Cheers mate, it's one of the rockiest tracks we ride so it was very difficult to get rid of the shake....

The footage looks great, I'm definately going to upgrade my standard gopro before the season starts. Thanks for posting!

I've been shooting at setting 2, 3 and 5 but need to use it on the bike to decide which is best. I'm leaning toward 5 though since the picture is less distorted than with 2 and 3, maybe its just me but i think sometimes the picture looks odd when playing 60fps back at full speed (looks mint for slow-mo though). Ive been using Vegas 9 as well with good results, off-hand I forget what I've rendered videos at but i'm pretty sure it's 1080 for wmv.
These cameras like sunlight and color, so 2 weeks of overcast grey sky and snow hasn't lent itself to much useful testing.

a couple quick test i uploaded:
Smuggs 123009 on Vimeo (setting 5)
Sherman in the snow on Vimeo (setting 3)
