the Dell 2209WA consistently gets high marks for a very cheap entry into the world of IPS panel monitors and i just got one yesterday for $225 (tax included, free shipping).

You can still get the sweet deal from Dell on the 2209WA - just ordered 2 for $212ea + tax. Thanks to slickdeals.net

Rep was Christa and her direct line is 512-946-0448 or email christa_fordATdell.com. Very helpful and pleasant.

She indicated not sure how much longer they would be honoring that price

Nice. Wish I had the budget for one so I could get a second monitor.

I've got one of the 2007FPWs that were coming with an IPS panel by accident: a lawyer whose office I was working next to needed a spare monitor for a laptop, and it sat for a couple months in the box. He swapped me for a less expensive but larger monitor and we both got what we wanted.

A friend got the 22" model you mentioned and is very happy with it.

The only thing I want to know is, who at Dell thought it was a good idea to cause the USB ports to shut off when you turn off the monitor??

btw, viewsonic has also just released an inexpensive IPS panel monitor, which is a bit bigger and has more resolution (i think it's 24" and is 1920px wide), for $300.

yeah that is a PITA. i have my bluetooth keyboard/mouse receiver plugged into the monitor and when i shut it off, it takes forever for the mouse/keyboard to resync
