My son age 9 and daughter 16 are wanting to try a racing. What are the best not super technical races that would be good to start them out on?

You know what....that is going to completely depend on their current skills and abilities. I just watched a 7yr old complete the Massanutten race. That's a slimy, rocky mess right there. So you'll have to be more specific.
I know I raced at sugar mt. during a national series a couple years ago, not sure if it still doing bikes, banner elk I believe
Fontana
They are both beginners, that can handle all the trails at bent creek, and montreat. They're not point they could ride something like kitizuma.
