It's killing me... I'm having GMT withdrawl :help: Isn't stosh on vaca starting today, or was he supposed to be around today before he left? Anyways...

Good Morning - everyone have a good night? I had an f'in wonderful day yesterday. Sat around all day waiting for Verizion to come fix our phones. Apparently their customer service is sooo good that there were able to give me a time frame when the technician would be at my house - between 8am and 4pm. That was awfully nice of them.

About 2:00ish I get frustrated for wasting an entire day, so I called Verizon to check if the guy is still coming over. Apparently he was at our house the night before and fixed the problem, but never bothered to tell us. :mumble:

Anyways... once I got that straightened out, I headed up to Rochester to pick up my Sportworks from Victor. Why the hell I spent the last 3 years lugging bikes up to the top of my truck (which is a good 18" over my head) is beyond me. The sportworks is great - easy, convient, sturdy - I'm very happy with it.

After that I met up with Echo and got in a short ride at Tryon. The trails were cool and it was good to finally ride with Echo. My chain broke about 1/4 in, and I ended up breaking 4 teeth off one of the r. der pulleys and bending my hanger. I was able to fix it enough so I could pedel along, but I couldn't shift. So Echo and I were both on singlespeeds (more or less). It was a good time - thanks Echo.

Ha, I wondered who was gonna pick up the GMT duties for the day :D

Well as noted, I had a nice, although short ride with jacksonpt last night. Everyone bailed for various reasons but the trails were prime and jackson handled our most technical stuff with no problem. Nice meeting you jackson, we'll have to get down to your trails soon for a tour. Did you get set up with the pulley on your way out?

'morning. Got out of work early yesterday which was nice, had a very nice evening.. Today will be hell, and I will be working until 8:00 or so when I will then get in the car and drive 2 hours to Massachusettes, whereupon I will get in another car and drive 14 hours to the outer banks of North Carolina.

Upon arrival, though, there will be nothing but relaxation for 9 days on the beach...

Yea... Victor pulled the pulley off the XO he had in stock (yours) - said you'll have to buy it without the pulley, HA! Also picked up another hanger, just in case.

And I asked the question that had to be asked - what kind of a deal he could cut me on the Kona Cinder Cone frame he's got up stairs. I don't want to put Victor in a tough spot because I'm not sure what kind of pricing he offers generally, but let's just say that my wife is going to hate him.

I didn't buy it, but I don't think it will be long before I do.

For the second week in a row the tree trimmers(hired by the power co) started cutting at 7am. Guess they couldn't get it right the first time through.

Morning - had an okay night last night - test drove a Ford Focus - why is it that even going in for just a test drive of a car has to be an excruciatingly painful process??

Ate at a Mexican restaurant in Granby, CT - good eats

Came home and did some preload and rebound adjusting on my Z1 FR - took it for a little test ride and it felt better (plusher and more responsive) - then I just drank a couple of Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ales and chilled.

I'm having trouble sleeping lately though and that sucks. :(

He came back to the shop then? That's cool. I called down there to make sure it was okay and he had left.

You know you need the Cinder Cone

Yeah you definitely need the Cinder Cone - Kona hardtail geometry is the shiznit in my opinion - I wish I had gotten a Kona instead of the Marin when I bought it.

But the Marin is pretty cool as a SS - but a Kona ghettorigged SS would have been even better.

No, I believe the correct statement is, "I need a Kona." The question is whether or not the Cinder Cone is the frame I need. I think for the money it will be fine. The 575 will still get most of my attention, so I don't need anything fancy or expensive.

I was sitting at the house yesterday talking with our builder. He asked how many bikes I owned - with all the chaos around the new house, it seems like there are bike parts everywhere. I've basically got 4 complete bikes at the house - the 575, my old Mongoose, a buddy's hardtail GT, and an old steel rigid diamondback. The 575 is the only bike I ride right now. I could swap most of the parts from the mongoose to the Kona and have a pretty decent hardtail that would be a blast to ride. And I could probably do it for under $500.

Seems foolish not to, no?

Good Morning Jackson!

It was cool meeting you. Sorry about your bike. It was a good night to ride for sure. Weird how dry it was in there considering how wet it is everywhere else. It was painful watching Echo SS that hill but I am sure he was fine. Nice bike by the way Echo. Have a good day brother.......jdcamb

Try out the Toyota Matrix - I think you'll like it more than the Focus.

DogFish Head is awesome beer! I actually went to their brewpub in Deleware the first day they opened (a few years ago now) - the brewer had a couple of kegs with the tops cut off set up as his mash tun and kettle, making 7 gallons at a time - pretty cool to see how far they've come.

Sleep is overrated.

PS - Good morning everyone.

The Matrix is on the short list - for sure. I like how the seats fold down in it and there is hard plastic on the back of em - good for bikey stuff and dirty stuff.

Do you know anyone who owns a Matrix? Can you recommend a good Toyota dealership in the Hartford area?

I'd like to try and find a 2004 Matrix and get a little cash back incentive thing going - if I like the vehicle.

I test drove one a while back just for kicks. I'm a big fan of Toyota, so I wanted to see what the matrix was all about. They seem very handy, and a good alternative to the Subies that are so popular. They offer a 6speed with all wheel drive and 200+ HP... that baby hustles right along.

I wish the Matrix had been available when I got my Focus Wagon. I would have definitely considered it too.

GM all, well my night sucked. Spent all night with the shop vac, house was flooded. Got home yesterday from work and was planning on jumpping in the shower real fast, so i could head off to the hospital. ( we had our third kid wednesday) As i am walking up the walk to the door i am noticing all this water, took a second for it to register that i was slosshing through the house. Washing machine hose ruptured, i figure it must of happened right after i left for work. Countless gallons everywhere. Waiting for the insurance guy to call me back. sheetrock needs replaced in the utility room, carpets need to be replaced. Even though it really sucks that i didn't get to stay the night at the hospital last night with my wife i am so glad i came home. wish it would of been sooner though. I got it cleaned up after a lot of hours ( well mostly carpets will not be dry for a long time ) i will keep shop vacing. I will have to do that later as i need to get to the hospital. anyways have a good day all.

That sucks. Came home one day to find the bathroom flooded. The commode float quit working, and it poured out.

You need to pull up the edges of the carpet and get a fan blowing under them. You might have a wooden subfloor that is going to be ruined if the carpet stays wet.
