So I am just starting to get into downhill and have decided to buy a jersey. I will be using elbow/arm pads so I am not sure if I should get a short or long sleeve jersey. Any reccomendations?
I like Ben Davis gear, with some kind of wicking tee underneath. The Ben Davis cotten is rough and tough, and with something to wick the sweat away, doesn't get all soppy.
Considering the fact that when I was in Supergo yesterday they wanted around 100 gringos for jerseys, I'd have to say that 35cnd is not a deal, it's a steal.
I'll ride around naked before I pay $100 for a jersey....
I wear white t-shirts, with the sleeves cut off for that sexy white-trash wifebeater look the ladies love, with a witty slogan applied through diligent use of a sharpie.

Short sleeve if it's uber hot. I use my Fox short sleeve jersey over my regular body armor and it works fine and dandy. I'll get pissed though if it rips or anything as it was like $50 (but it's an XC style jersey).
Now everything else, long sleeve for sure. I've seen sales for as low as $19 for Azonic/Oneil jersey's which are the same design. I have not spent more than $20 on a jersey. I can't justify it. You crash a few times and drag your arms and they will tear. Why buy a $50+ dollar jersey, tear it, and be out $50+??? Just get the el cheapo moto ones for $20. On ebay I've seen Fox and every other brand name jersey go for cheap as well as pricepoint.com and MX stores.
I just feel better with long sleeves. Plus it gives your body armor one more layer of protection from being chewed up by rocks/tress/whatever etc...
There are tons of good places to get jerseys, as most DH/FR companies sell some with their logo on them. Off hand, I can think of Go-Ride, Marzocchi, Transcend, Roach/Race Face, Sombrio, and a couple of others. If you're ready to move to Spam City, though, read on!
