well, what is the deal with needing a longer post? did you grow over the winter?
No, the seatpost on my Rocky Mountain was always too short. I used that bike on my final lap at Dalton last year and could not get full extension on my downstroke. Longer seatpost = full extension = more power = faster pedaling = kicking Jackalope asses. :p

Good morning everyone!

I have...13 mosquito bites peppering my ankles this morning...the only part of me they could get to this weekend without getting killed...;)

Saturday was a quiet day, spent relaxing and reading and cooking and such. Learned to make these tasty rice and red-bean treats I haven't had fresh since I lived in Japan. Yummmm!
Sunday Steve and I went climbing. I did my first hanging belay ever!!! Kinda neat, though you do get kind of cramped swinging against a cliff 30 meters above the ground. I'm also pretty proud of myself for making it up the first pitch of the climb. Until this weekend, I've never attempted anything harder than a 5.9...this was a 5.10b trad - crack climb. I did okay, though didn't finish it clean. After doing it once though, I know the hold-ups were caused by my own head believing it was over my level, and not that it actually was outside my limit.

Tonight is YOGA - Snacks, you still in?

Tomorrow, hopefully a good ride. :thumb:

BTW, why the hell didn't anyone tell me the new Shimano 760 rear derailleurs now come with REVERSE SHIFTING. God dammit!! MBC installed my new derailleur yesterday (yeah, that's right...shut up) and to our surprise shifting is reversed! Thumb shift is for shifting up, and finger shift is for shifting down. How long is THAT going to take to get used to?

You seem smart enough to handle it. If you hate it, send me your shimano and I will send you my sram. I like rapid rise.

We continued our North Shore construction last saturday, despite the rain. This time, we bring the bike and tested the structures.

Saturday night i was totally exhausted and happened to encounter my pillow when I was supposed to go to a friend's birthday party. Was never able to woke up and slept till next morning... oops! Sorry Mowd.

Sunday I spent some time with my GF. Our second anniversary together.

The North Shore, as posted by Tartosuc last week, is intented to be modular and temporary. It will be available at the Festival de plein air des Iles de Boucherville, then at the Quebec city 2 weeks later at Duchesnay. The event will take place from friday May 13th to sunday 15th just 2 minutes away from Montreal, Quebec. The festival is aimed at famillies and oudoor sports in general, not just bike. A 40' climbing tower and aerial track will also complement the +150 kiosks that display tent/clothe/kayak/bike/shoe/gps/place to visit/etc.

Pics and video of the Shore are available in french at http://www.allezy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1490&start=160

@Echo and other Jackalopes, I still hope to see you there ;)

Morning, :monkey:s!

Trail building yesterday, then rode the trails we built. Otherwise the theme was spring yard work.

Headed down to Massachusetts tomorrow morning, hoping to hit Borderlands or 'Nam or both.

Good morning everyone. Had a great exploration ride at Haviland Hollow in Patterson NY yesterday. Had no idea what we were going to find there, but it turned out to be great. Some good climbs and descents, only a couple hike-a-bikes, nice twisty singletrack. Ended up being only 8 miles and 2000 vertical, but it felt like more (I blame the Bullit). Sore today, but it feels good. Might take the gf running tonight (I'll ride my ss) if the weather holds out.

CT monkies should plan on riding Nepaug this coming Sat for the annual Cinco de Mayo Ride with a BBQ in the parking lot afterward. Ride starts at 10, and there will probably be multiple groups.

Its good training for me too! So far, she's sticking with pavement this year - no trail races scheduled as of yet.

Nepaug SF is in Canton (near IAB & MBC). I'd say its one of the top 3 places to ride in CT. Last year when Jozz and Karine came down to visit, we went there on Sat (you missed that ride).

There's a huge xc loop and a lot of natural and some man-made stunts on a shorter loop. I suspect we'll have at least one group of xcers and one of free-standers for this ride, possibly more. In the past, the largest group on this ride has been about 50. The review page has tons of pics.

Post ride grillin~n~chillin in the parking lot. Check the Official Announcement for details. Sure to be a good time.

Sounds like fun. We (me, McG, MBC) will probably do the Reservoir though. We'll pace ourselves and give Laura plenty of time to work on her MTB skills.

Mornin'

I probably did one of the weirder things of all of you this weekend. I volunteered to help keep kinetic sculptures from drifting away into the Baltimore Harbor during the annual kinetic scupture race.

Here I am pre-race:

It was pouring down rain and my hose were just completely soaked but they kept me fairly warm.

Here is a lovely picture of Fifi:

This one takes the cake:

Here we are escorting Fifi around the pier.

This train ran over a little kid during its water entry. I think that the train sustained more injuries than the kid.

This thing was powered by 8 pedalers. Its built on a Suzuki Samuri chasis. It has a 5 speed tranni with reverse, is 4wd and probably weighs close to a ton and a half (conservative estimate)

And I saw this sign while driving around Baltimore and had to take a picture.

We skipped out after the water obstical portion of the race because we were freezing to death by that point.

None from this weekend...no cameras came with. Steve has some from our last venture out to Squamish, but I don't know what happened to them...that was the fateful day of the rock fall when I got my face all scratched...
