Wifey and I headed into Boston Saturday to see the Sox game. The game went 12 innings and the Red Sox blow. Thankfully, three LARGE pre-game beers at the Boston Beer Works made everything worthwhile. :) I had an Octoberfest, a hefeweizen and a pale ale. I like beer.

As splat mentioned, we pre-rode the 24 hour course yesterday. I can't wait for this weekend!!

Good Morning!

Good Lord, I got drunk on Friday.....went out with some friends and ran into two girls I went to high school with. Haven't seen them in 16 years, and ended up calling one of them by the wrong name!! :bonk: Yeah......I was hammered. Such a doofus. Needless to say, it was a few awkward moments until I sounded the alarm, and my boys came to my rescue and whisked me away to another bar to annoy new people. Remind me not to go out in public like that again.

Spent Saturday playing a little golf and doing some dirtjump shaping as my shock for my Preston has apparently fallen into the black-vortex-of-no-return.....you may know it as the Romic repair department. Three weeks they've had this thing and I can't get anyone on the phone to tell me what's up.

Sunday was all about football. Panthers got their kitty-butts whooped on pretty badly by Michael Vick, so I was bummed.....to remedy my bum-ness, I made lots of fresh pico-de-guyo and went to town on it with some chips and beer.

Hello all. Another good weekend was had by myself and Maureen. Did the Platty practice thing on Sat, when it of course not only rained by we also had some lightning strikes on the top of the mountain by 3, so that ended our runs. It seems to be that every race weekend has to have some amount of rain and mud involved this year...Race day was dry and sunny! Sport course was the same as most of the year, plus or minus a few tricks: Fast, small drops & jumps and a few G-out ditches to contend with, plus the usual loose wet shale. They had a crazy start for us that got eliminated at the last minute because it was "stupid". but I liked it, actually: off the start gate to a 180 degree turn to a slight uphill to a 3 foot high jump into the singletrack. I guess people complained because they could't carry enough speed to the jump, but whatever...Ended up 3rd at 4:49, thus keeping my 3rd overall in points in the 40 until death sport class, only 5 seconds off 1st and 2nd guys (both got 4:44, seperated by 2/10 of a second).

We did some fun riding after, though the pro/expert course was muddy and hairy 1st time down! Did one more run on the November race course, Mo's favorite to ride..she was clearing major rocks while I wimpliy watched. Finally she dumped it over a log/rock pile and I caught up. Feeling my machiso dwindling I said, "let your husband lead the way!!!" as I flew down the trail and into a pile of rocks upside down backwards with something nailing my back/kidney just before the lift clearing...so much for machismo! There is none when you are lying in a pile wimpering with your bike laid out on top of you.

Advil and ice packs and I are best friends now.

Here's a few pics, damn I gotta lose that gut!

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
Good morning! Had a nice long weekend at the in-laws for another wedding (cousin this time). Managed to get in a bit of road riding, RC car racing, drinking some of my belated b-day gift (a hefty bottle of Glenlivet) and tried to relax a little before this weekend's race. Syd decided to try and help me out with the limited sleep by keeping me up ALL night on Thursday and only letting me get 4 hours of sleep on Friday and Saturday nights. Last night I managed a whole 5.5 hours and I feel great this morning (where's that help smiliey when I need him). Today I am back to the grind at work and will be heading out for a brief trail ride tonight.

Morning! BV and I went to Fayetteville for the day Saturday. One of our friends was down from NH to see her niece, who was in the US Open Skeet Championship. It was pretty cool. She did really well (placed 2nd in ladies) and I had never seen shooting before. I got to hold a shotgun! Woohoo! I also got smacked in the back of the head with part of a target... didn't feel so super... haha. The weather was really beautiful for being outside too, sunny and 90 and lovely!

That's about it. Good to see someone from the old home, and good to get out and do something different. Have a good Monday! :D

Morning all. Decent weekend. Went to Killington on Sat.. Trails were decents. Kinda sloppy up top, but the double diamonds on Rams Head Peak were awesome!! The sucky part is that we got there and only got 3 runs in before the skies opened up and it rained/hailed cats and dogs!! Ran and sat in my jeep for 45 mins. and they never re-opened the lift. :( All-in-all, a big waste of $35. I did get to meet another fellow monkey, "In The Trees". Nice guy, wish we could have ridden together for a run or two. Yesterday i spent the day putting away patio/pool furniture for my parents. got a free meal out of it though.... :thumb:

Hope this week goes by fast!! Headed to CT. for the Churn & Burn on Friday!! :D

My weekend was supposed to be four days spent killin' it at Whistler. That was cut short on run #1 on Thursday (day 1). My friend ate it tough and was out the rest of the day. We stayed the night to see how he felt the next morning. Well he felt like going to the doctor, so we headed for home. Turns out he has a fractured wrist, something wrong w/ his hip/femur that they couldn't image because of all the swelling in the area. Has to go back in two weeks for another visit.

I then spent Saturday and Sunday building a platform to put a shed on and assembling the shed. All in all it was about 12.5 hours work. What a disappointing change of events, but I am glad to finally have a "storage solution".... whatever, just more room for bikes in the garage.

Thx TreeSaw!... my little Canon SD110 ELPH really does a good job. I take about 50 pics per trip to get 1/2 dozen or so really good ones. Thats such a luxury compared to what we used to have to deal with with film...

Saturday:
East Middlebury to Bristol, Appalachian gap to Waitsfield, thence to Warren, return via Middlebury gap. About 68 miles, 4,900 feet of climbing.

Sunday:
Crown Point New York to Ironville to the defunct town of Hamilton, site of the Penfield Iron works. Clamber on tailing piles and stone foundations, collect colorful slag. 32 miles, maybe 2,700 feet of climbing. Stopped at a bakery on the return ride and bought a monkey cake.

Hey, my dad and I camped up there when I was 12 or so! Isn't the river that flows into it called the Oswagachee or something like that? We have photos from that trip where I outfished my dad like 11 to 1, every time I would cast, I would catch something... then on the last day, I hung my favorite roostertail on a lowhanging powerline, and prettymuch crapped out after that!

cool shot...

Good morning,

Had a great weekend of riding, a whole 9 some miles of harshness on the Dixie Mine Trail Saturday morning and chased out by a storm followed by a 72 mile road ride on Sunday morning. I'm sore today but stoked.

Have a good day!

Well,

big weekend... Friday Emma and I hung out together, while Bek went out with friends. It was cool, but she still wasn't feeling well.

Sat. I went out with a County Parks guy to cut trees that had fallen across some of the trails. It is cool if you go with these guys cause you can tell them "cut it here and leave that section there so we can hop it" that was pretty tiring, and then went to my parents and replaced brakes and a front halfshaft on the Forester (WHAT A MAJOR PAIN IN THE FVCKING @ASS!!!!!!):banghead:
I worked on it from 3:30 till midnight! but I got it done, and my car has never driven better. No shimmy when I stop, and it accelerates quicker, and it doesn't even growl when I turn!

Sun. I went for a group ride with our local MTB group PORC (Pittsburgh Off Road Cyclists) I had a stipid little fall on a simple washout and had my pedal come around and hit me right in the calf, and gave me a charlie horse! my calf swelled up, and feels all weird like its jiggling and stuff! (that wreck was at mile 2 of 17:brow: ) After the ride we had a huge picnic. drank entirely tooo much. here are some photos of the mayhem! there is even a pic of Emma, Bek, and I!

Mornin :monkey:s

wow, what a weekend...

Let's see.. got home from work Friday and tried to rebuild my front trigger before my ride. I've done it a few times so I knew what was involved and about how long it would take (~20 minutes). For some reason, I just couldn't get everything put back together just right, so it took me more like an hour. By the time I got that done, it was getting dark, so I threw my light and my gear in my truck and headed down the trails.

I felt really good right out of the gate. Bike felt good, legs felt good, lungs felt good. Then about 15 minutes, I broke my chain. Friggin great. By the time I got the chain fixed the sun had finished setting, so I flipped on my light and got back on the pedals. I don't know if I was feeling too good for a night ride so I was pushing myself too hard or what, but I just couldn't stay on the bike. I went OTB 4 or 5 times, I went UTB (under the bars) once (tried to manual off a teeter and had the back of the bike drop out from under me - landed flat on my back (on the light battery) and knocked the wind out of me. Tried it again and nailed it :thumb: ), and had the bike wash out on me several times. It was a very frustrating ride. In the end, I called it quits and bailed on the ride with 3 trails left. First time I've ever quit early like that *shakes head*

Saturday was my day with the kids. We ran some errands, saw Dora (she made a special appearance at a local business), had dinner at my mother's... nothing exciting, but a good day.

Sunday I spent 8 hours in the ER with the kids. Sean wasn't himself and seemed to have abdominal discomfort. He was so out of sorts and I couldn't do anything to calm him down, so I took him to the ER. While we waited (for 3 hours), Emma doubled over in pain... writhing, wretching... bad stuff - never seen her like that before. After 2 more hours of waiting we got in to be seen. The nurse poked at the kids, did an xray and an ultrasound on Sean to check his belly... and 3 hours later we got all the test results back and they think it was just gas. That could be it for Sean, but I have a hard time believing that was all that was wrong with Emma. You parents will understand this... but as a parent, you just know when something is wrong with your kids.

This morning Sean had a doctor's appointment (18 month checkup)... Dr said it sounded more like a very light case of food posioning. Emma had her first day of preschool, so I took her out for breakfast then dropper her at school.

Now I'm at work, back into the normal routine.

Yeah, that was a cool jersey, that guy went out with a different group than I did, and when I got back to the grove after my ride, I was accosted by like 7 or so guys and a couple of girls telling me how awesome the new trail is. It seams this is the first time many of these people have ridden the trail Manhattan and I put in, and these folks were all super stoked about it. Most of them told me that they quit riding this park because it was getting old, and that the new trail adds a whole new dimension to the park, and they will definately start riding there again! :thumb: i was super good to hear, and makes me feel good that I am making a difference!

Out of my mind, back in a moment.
Afternoon.

Spent the weekend up in Seneca Falls with Beth. Good weekend, some running around and some road riding. I put the Trek together as a SS and put my XTR cranks on my Dawg.

Nothing else of value really happened.

several of the funiest moments of the whole weekend involved that girl....

#1... As Bek was leaving, I mistakenly said outloud (when I should have just thought it) "That Girl is built like a Brick Sh!thouse!!!" Bek gave me the look, and then as the girl looked over toward me Bek yells "LUV YOU" I yelled back "NO" the girl found that funny! (luckily she didn't hear my comment about her)

#2... Then my friend Jeff (the Kona and Fox rep for our area) and I were building a fire with sticks we had gathered in one of the grills... well, we finally got the think up and burning, and there was a little bit of a breeze, and that girl came over to us... she was wearing these super short white "Daisy Dukes" with that shirt on, and she was telling everyone she was cold without opening her mouth (highbeams) she says to Jeff cool a fire I was getting cold, he looks DIRECTLY at her chest, and says "yeah it is getting a bit Nipply out" I busted out laughing, she started laughing, and Jeff was grinnin like a butchers dog!:busted:

(if you look at the pic at all you can tell she was cold)

So is she built like a brick schit house because it doesn't look that way in the pic.
Does she ride bikes?

the pic was taken from the hip on the sly... without the girl knowing... I am surprised that it made it onto the website! and YES SHE IS BUILT!!!! she had legs that didn't end! I will say this she looks pretty Ok in the pic, and the pic doesn't do her justice!!!

Yes she did ride... I think she went out on a beginner/intermediate ride! from what I understand, her parents own a local bar, and want us to use that bar as our meeting place etc. (yes our MTB group has meeting at the bar!) I could be mistaken, but I think that was the story I heard!

I don't know if I'd go that far, but I am disappointed with the SRAM stuff I'm running. It's decent gear, but overhyped, IMO.
I got rid of them quick on my MKIII. I thought the x9 rear der.'s were made of Silly Puddy.

Morning all!! well I guess afternoon...

Had nice weekend.. Sat I wound up going on a longer than usual road ride around NYC.. put in a decent 52 miles. It was a super nice day for it.
Sunday we had our first football game. My arm felt good. I wwound up throwing for 5 TD's so I was happy. we ound up kicking some butt once we got moving. Its a fun league, different from the ones I played in the pass. you only get 3 downs, you can only make one first down, and the defense can blitz once per set of downs!!! makes for an interesting game!!

Have a great day
