How is everybody today?

I had a great fall weekend!
Saturday we went to a wine tasting/lobster bake which was a lot of fun and we found some great wines as well!

Yesterday we had a friend over for dinner with her daughter and we played in the yard and had a campfire so that was pretty cool!

Hope ya all have a great day!

Had to work this "workend", went for a ride Friday but Holly got sick about half a mile from the trailhead and we had to turn around.

Big thumbs up to Treesaw!

Went for a nice bike ride with my Dad yesterday. I think he had a good time getting out. My little project for the weekend was this...

Rear brake caliper broke, so I took the front off and put it on the back. Took off the Hussefelts and put on the 454s as well as made it a single speed, since the shifting never really worked that well anyway. That and I took off the Panaracer Fire FRs and threw on the Kujos. Oh well, we will see how it works.

You frikkin sally. Oh wait, I took today off too. :D Hey splat, want to ride 'Nam!? lol

The 24 hour race was a blast. As much as the mud made it a slippery, sticky, gunky living hell, I think it was well suited for my abilities so I was really able to hold my own. :) HOORAY! It was cool during the race to see leaves falling off the trees. Autumn MTB is the best.

Mornin'

A little trailwork on Sat. Went to the Tar Heels football game Sat. evening and watched them almost throw away what should have been an easy win.

Did some baby shopping Sunday--bought a car seat. Babies are expensive, yo.

Watched the Panthers literally "throw" away a win against Minnesota later on that afternoon, then went to a friends house to watch the Redskins stink it up against Dallas. I need to quit watching football......I think I am teh jinx. :banghead:

'morning everyone. My sister graduated! It was touch and go at the end there, but she worked her butt off and finished all her requirements. I'm proud of her hard work, and it was nice to see my family.

Had a nice, relaxed b-day with some wine and a delecious cheesecake... and came back yesterday to find Jenn had scrubbed the apartment from top to bottom, made my favorite gumbo and had a few presents for me. Very nice!

Morning Monkeys

I'm tired but feeling good from the post-race vibes of the Churn and Burn in Ashford. I feel bad that Doug was unable to race due to his accident, but I am glad that I was able to be a part of the event and that I was able to contribute to the overall efforts of Team 4 Monkeys and a Baboon. I wish I could have gone a little faster, but I did the best I could and that felt good.

But what the hell am I doing at work today??? ugh.

My back is sore - perhaps a suspension seatpost for events like that is in order - and I think I'll need to be replacing some brake pads and whatnot on my bike.

I hope we do that race again next year. It was a blast.

Good morning! Glad to see that I'm not the only one at work today Mark ;)

I am tired, my back aches, and I have the beginnings of a nice cold, but other than that, I have a grin on my face and am proud to have raced with some awesome monkeys!!!

Tonight will be R&R and then tomorrow I will take a serious look at my poor bike to see what needs to be replaced from the weekend's "series of unfortunate 5 mile rides".

Morning all....

I had a pretty good weekend...

Friday... tinkered on the bike, and then welded Bek's muffler bracket back onto her car (sounded like she had a cheesy coffee can exhaust without the .005% hp gain) only took 20 or so minutes, but I did get a stiff neck out of it:bonk:

Saturday, I drove up to New Bethlehem PA. and did a 16 mile race that was 14 miles of mud! I did really well considering the competition and a few problems I had:brow: I will explain in a ride report I am typing up now...

anyway... sat. night Bek had a bunch of her friends over to our house as a staging point for a bachelorette party, so I had to watch Emma...

needless to say Sat. night led to Sunday morning Emma duty when Bek was completely hung over... so Emma and I went shopping together and went to my parents to wash the remaining pounds of mud off of my bike!

a good weekend it was!

I know I definitely need new brake pads. And while I'm missing one chainring bolt, I might as well remove the other three, take of that big ring and install a bashguard on my cranks. My chainstay took a beating from all that chainsuck and chaindropping - so I think I'll need to make good use of that Niner Bikes black touch up paint too. All worth it though!!!

Yeah! I had horrible issues with chain suck and am sure that I will probably need some new brake pads too. I haven't even begun to think about what nicks are on my poor bike.

Where was she going to school?
She never really fit well in a public school system, and ended up dropping out of high school. She graduated from one of those accredited "alternative schools" that are essentially a condensed private school. 6 month program and if you complete all the requirements they assign you, you get your high school diploma. They have one-on-one teachers, tutors, and make them get jobs in the community and stuff.

Ended up being a great thing for her - she got a job in a wood shop and it turns out she has a real talent for woodworking and she really loves to do it, so this might even be a career for her. The school is called "The Community School" and is in Maine.

Muchambo, your back was compressed and released thousands of times over the course of that race. No suspension seatpost is going to alleviate that kind of back pain. We are ALL feeling it.

Yessir, it was :)

Seems like a nice little town there. My mom lives in Searsport but I had never been to Camden before this.

Cool. That's great for her. I've known local kids that have gone thru the Community School. It worked out great for them.
Those mtns looming right over town have great riding as well.

Good morning,

Spent a good part of the weekend riding. Saturday, we rode Desert Classic at South Mountain to the end, swung back through some neighborhoods and hit a storm canal ala Terminator 2 to get back to the trail. Sunday, knocked out a 84.8 mile road ride from west Phoenix to Scottsdale and back. Temps were sub 70's this morning in my neighborhood, sure wanted to ride instead of going to this silly job thing. Just about time for spring fever in our neck of the woods.

Have a good day!

Good Morning Stosh! :D

Treesaw congrats on you first solo 24 hour race. I was race support and a volunteer for Orven's team this weekend at their 24-hour race and I'm pretty tired just from doing that. Looks like you all had a great time.

I have tons of work to do. Hope everyone has a great day! :)

good point IAB.

It was interesting to see how many of the solo men were riding 29ers. The guy who won was on one, the guy who finished third was too, and I think the guy who finished fourth alternated between his 29er and his Giant Trance.

I didn't ride a 26" wheeled bike during the race, but I feel pretty confident in saying the bigger contact patch of my wheels helped me avoid getting a flat on that sharp rock area, and they also helped me slug through some of the mud bogs very well (when I had the energy in my legs to keep pedaling properly at least!).

Saturday's DH runs at Devil's Den were the best day of riding I have had in the last 15 years. I have never ridden so well or had so much fun.

At one point, one of my riding buddies said to me that he saw somebody coming down the trail and he couldn't figure out who it was. It looked like me but WAAAAAYYY smoother and faster than I am.

I'll take it as a complement.

The 456 is a champ (for a hardtail)! I don't think I'll sell it anymore.

Met up with N8 and MizN8 for some beers. They really are a couple of nice folks. You'll be giving up XC and riding with us next year, RIGHT?

Thanks for the pic N8, can't wait to see the rest.

Edit: Listened to the new Mastodon album 3 times over the drive down and back. :monkeydance:

Good monday, well afternoon. I just went for a ride, and all is well in the world. I also found out why my drivetrain felt weird, the driveside crank was loose:disgust:
