is ALWAYS key I say...
I have a friend who just got married. She want's to start riding a lot to get in shape. She was over weight BIG time like three years ago and after working out and doing gym cardio she looks incredible. So her new hubby also is a little heavy and she's talked him into riding. Question is, she only has like $500 to spend on bike for him on a nice bike. I figure he should go full suspension.

Anyone know a good bike full suspension for $500 or less? I found ONE Ironhorse online for exactly five with a Manitou front fork and some off brand rear shock but the frame looked nice and it had Hayes Mechanical Disk Brakes. I was just going to send her to Dicks Sporting goods cuz you really can't find something nice for under a grand. Any suggestions I'll pass along to her.

Chunky, but not really.

haro extreme, i think 600-700 maybe 800 is the lowest f.s.

i know mechanical 6" rotors i know the one in the pic has 8"
2.5 front and rear tires..
6 inches of travel, and single crown..i don't know of anything besides used from diablo or whistler or someplace..

that is the lowest i know of, not back to start with..maybe hardtail? you can get a lot more options.

Out of my mind, back in a moment.
For that price, I'd stay with a good quality hardtail. As the skills progress and the passion for riding increases, they can purchase a very good full susser for around 13 bills. I'd be VERY leery of anything that came as a full suspension for 500 bucks...something has to be scrimped on to make that price; it could be frame, components, shock, fork, wheels....any number of things.

Spend the money on a good hardtail, and ride it for a while. It'll also help him develop the necessary bike handling skills he'll need in the future.

The DB is nice, also Iron Horse Outlaw or Warrior would do as well. A solid HT with an OK fork and solid shifting.
