I rode this totally flat switch back type trail thru some pine barrons in Southern NJ last year, it was a tough work out.
Did you see Paulie & Chrissy? Any sign of the Russian?

Sorry.......Sopranos joke there.

How is everyone today?

I'm fine, thank you for asking. Mowed the yard yesterday. Two weeks of rain and occasional sun have made for a virtual wheatfield out front. Took twice as long as it normally takes(and twice as much beer). Headed over to the trails and dug out some drainage for one of the mosquito-pits we had going as a result of the construction of a new double-jump and all the rain we've had. The pit was three feet deep and completely FULL of water!! And frogs. No, not French citizens.....actual frogs.

How's the new album?
it's fair...certainly no _The Black Light_ or _Feast of Wire_, but there are some strong songs...they ended the regular set w/ an absolutely scorching version of "All Systems Red" which was goddamn impressive...one of those rare moments you hope you get to see when going to live shows, when all the band members are plugged into one writhing, seething monster of a song. seriously, it was that good, and had they not come out for an encore i would have been fine w/ that.

as it was, they did invite opening band Jason Collett out for an extended beating of Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody" which was pretty good. i wasn't able to grab a setlist, but i was front/right center for the whole show and took a ton of pictures. i'll get some of the better ones up later.

Agreed, however if you think back to the past on RM, if you owned a road bike you were a loser. Now thats not the case, not that it's a bad thing.
I would rather go for a ride in a NYC cab then ride my bike on the road around here. We have no shoulders and the red necks driving drunk in their big un-insured un-inspected trucks will run you off the road in no time.

Absolutely!! It seems the North and the South aren't that different after all. :)

You couldn't PAY me to ride my bike on the road. I'd huck a no-hander, ten-footer off Kirstie Allie's ass before I pull on the fruity tighties and try to share space with Billy-Joe on a road in the middle of nowhere. :hot:

Oh man apparently they had some serious flooding in the northern section of Sulivan county. Anyway this one guys house was washed away with his daughter inside. He spoke very well about what happened to his daughter, then .... he goes .... "and I lost all my guns" and at that point he broke down and started crying. His son, was very upset that the fire dept didn't listen to him to go down stream to seach for their cat.
Freaking Sulivan county!!!
Oh man....

I saw a pic. of I-88 today. Holy crap! It looks like someone threws chunks of cement into a river. Amazing. I used to blow past there on my way to Ithaca.

Cool, thanks man. Feast of Wire was brilliant but Hot Rail was only so-so. I may pick it up if it is closer to FoW.

i am getting a bit sick of having "The Crystal Frontier" trotted out at every show, but at least they re-arranged it a bit, and joey worked in small lyrical bits from The Specials' "Ghost Town" and Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus".

i was a bit bummed that i didn't have a good vantage point for watching John Convertino, who is one of my all-time favorite drummers.

I have a road bike and I love to ride it, but I definitely feel the same about the roads around here. For me, I can't totally relax and enjoy myself when there are cars screaming by dangerously close.

Yeah, it's just silly to ride the road here in the Hudson Valley, although a lot of people still do.

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
Good morning all! I have gotten in 2 really good rides lately and I feel great. Started out Saturday (I know a little late, but I realized I never posted about it last night when Sq-Earl and I were talking about it) when Sq-Earl and I loaded up our roadies and brought the little monkey over to my folks house for the day. We decided to ride some of the Battenkill Roubaix course as I grew up in the area and could potentially find my way around (we couldn't get the map to load so I just planned a route that I thought might be included as a part of the course). It was such a nice day and we had a great loop and beautiful weather. I felt great the whole ride and we managed a pretty fast time together too.

Then, last night the showers weren't present so I hit the SMBA trails and had a great ride. I felt strong the entire time and managed to clean my entire ride (a feat that I don't often achieve). Not sure of tonight's plan, but I am hoping there aren't any showers and Sq-Earl and I can hit either the road or the trail with our SSers.

You wanna do a road ride Sat. morning? Looks like I'm not going to be able to make it to Jiminy after all....

I'm good, we're all moved in! Ok well 95% moved in anyway. I think by sometime next week I'll be able to start squeezing in rides again.

We might be able to do that. What time are you looking to ride & where? I have to check with Sq-Earl...I think his parents are coming in sometime that day.

That's a quick move...we were in our house for what seemed like forever before we really felt "moved in". Any pics yet?

You get used to it, I suppose. I've been riding on busy roads since I was 13. I can have a tri-axle dump truck wizz by me within inches at 60 mph and it won't phase me. My riding route from my g/f's house passes a quarry, so this is a normal occurance. Would I like a bit mroe space? Sure. But as long as they don't hit me, a near miss is as good as a mile.

Oddlly, what tends to annoy me is when a car slowly creeps by going 10 mph faster than I am going... just go already...

That said, I have basically come to terms with the fact that my end will likely happen on the front of some SUV piloted by a driver on a cell phone...

Cool! I miss you guys!

When's the first big house party? ;)
I need to do some repairs to the back porch before we have any parties so probably not till the end of the summer.
We both miss riding with you guys as well. We have a bit of a dilema with Aubrey's bike. I'm not sure how to address the bird nest on her seat. The mama bird has continued to sit on it so I can only assume there is still living eggs in it. Thing is we're out of there this weekend...

Well our STUFF is moved in... that doesn't mean we're moved in.

We lived in an apt with all hardwood floors, it's so nice to have carpet.

No pics yet! Hopefully after this weekend.

Well if you have green shag carpet that may be a good idea.

I think a house needs a mix of both but I went from one extreme to the other.

Nah... just your standard neutral grey/blue carpet... but I kinda like the idea of hardwood floors and some nice looking oriental rugs to define the space.

Maybe call Cornal Cooperative extension or whatever it's called around here. They usually know what to do in cases like that

That's so funny though...What a comfy place to build a nest!

Morning (before noon) would be best for me. As for where, doesn't matter. If you have a planned loop from your place we could do that, I just need to get at least 40 miles in. If you have a shorter route, I could ride over to your place from my house, that would add 10 miles or so...

Let me know... :)
