For data storage, not really that important. I'm guessing that you're using this as a secondary drive, right? For storing pictures/video/media?

Okay, but I don't buy "almost" new hard drives. I don't buy refurb'd hard drives either. Strictly new, with the warranty. Hardrives definitely have a decent rate of failure, and anything you can do to reduce the probability of failure is a good thing.

Depends on how anal you want to be. External hard drives work great. A dual layer DVD burner is capable of a lot of storage as well, and you can keep those off-site (parent's house, lock box, whatever) if you have really important stuff (photographs or digital video of family, or a really, really good porn collection).
Yep I'm just using it for storage.

Hrmmm well I'm not sure what to do then....

Yeah I don't think I'm gonna do that off site thing.

Morning - not much new here. Went shopping last night for some family stuff. My arms are SORE from carrying our Christmas tree so far.

We have a Dell now and have really had good luck with it. Now, we really want to have a faster processor and more hard drive space so we've been looking at newer machines to replace ours.
I bought one last year from www.hdnw.com. They charged me $20 to assemble it and that way it comes with a one year warranty in addition to the manufacturers' warranties on all the components. It's fast enough so far and I had it set up with the new MATRIX RAID. The striped ~330GB set of partitions is amazingly fast for big CAD/CAM files and video. Just have to be more diligent about backing it up.
Can't say it'd be the best place to buy a computer unless you're local Seattle area bcz I'm not sure how they handle problems long distance.
I've only had specific compatibility issues with the onboard sound card and an application I run but they were great in helping me solve it. (Rainbow Technologies Sentinel System driver and ASUS onboard sound cards don't get along) The eVGA video card fan started rubbing the heat sink 2 weeks before the warranty was up. Close call and they gave me full credit to upgrade to an ASUS 7800GTX. PCI-E is the way to go if you're buying a new computer. AGP will no longer be upgradeable since they'll stop making the high end cards for them. If you won't be doing any graphic intensive stuff (games, CAD/CAM, video editing, graphic design, etc.) you don't need to blow a wad on a video card.

Ahh.....I just woke up. No more school for a month. I can wake up when I want, and do nothing if I want or actually workout/ride my bike.

Would it be considered "crazy" to go out for a ride in 8 degree weather with a bit of wind blowing?
You're asking the wrong people. Take it from me, the voice of reason "Yes it is crazy"
