A guy that used to ride with us (a really lame guy anyway) was convicted of molesting his 16 year old daughter when she was like 10 years old. He expected everyone to just forgive him. He can't really go anywhere, like to the mall, a park, a school, etc... I don't know how long. He sent an email asking us to forgive and support him. I think I was the only one to reply. I simply said, "you made a choice to do this yourself. You don't need me to forgive you. You should expend your energy seeking forgiveness of your daughter (which, IMO, you don't deserve). Then you should determine if you believe in the same God as me and seek forgiveness there. There is no reason to ask my forgiveness. I don't wish any ill will towards you, but I will not subject myself to your company. Good luck in doing whatever you do.

Was that wrong to say???

No. See, "I'm going to kill you if you come within 50 yards of a child." would be wrong. What you said fits nicely.

Now that I am father to the coolest baby girl ever, that might have been what I would have said.

The good news is, I haven't even heard about him since the week I sent my response.

In the bathroom, fighting a battle
Allright I have one "other offender" within three blocks and not much else in the generl vicinity. Sweet

But....
I did a search on my parents house where I grew up, looks like 5 houses down there's a guy with a child porn conviction. And I looked at the schools I went to. Across the street from my old middleschool there is a house with three offenders, one rape/ batery and two lewd acts witha child under 14. ALL IN ONE HOUSE, WHAT THE FVCK!

Loco, you handled that situation very well, Secret Suirel is right you don't want anything linking you to a possible murder

When I worked at Discovery Zone, there was a guy in Chicago that was "employee of the month". His picture was identified by a local cop when she had taken her kids there to play.

They did full criminal background checks on all current and future applicants after that.

There's one 4 houses down from my house. Maybe he'll take care of the kid next door that climbs our fence and taunts the dog.

Ok, this made me feel so much better (response from site)...

Unfortunately, Oregon does not currently publicize the registered sex offenders living within the state. Consequently, we are unable to provide any information about Oregon's sex offender population.

In discussions with Oregon state officials, we learned that Oregon does plan to provide a web-based registry of its sex offenders. Their planned implementation date is July 1, 2006.

We will eagerly await the introduction of Oregon's online sex offender registry. As soon as Oregon data is available, we will provide it to Family Watchdog visitors.

Dateline is doing a whole bunch of shows on busting child predators...it's pretty sad to see how many and how desparate these people are...

One guy drove by the set-up house and WATCHED the sheriffs busting another guy in the driveway...Gives the bait a call and asks about it...."Oh that was the neighbor getting busted for drugs." And then 5 minutes after the cops leave, he walks up and gets busted himself....Some real winners....

In California we have the Megan's Law Website that is pretty good. It list all of the registered sex offenders, gives their address, list their crimes (which always makes me mad), and has their picture.

I was disgusted when I saw how many of these sick perverts live in my neighborhood. What’s even more disturbing is that many of them live near schools and several of them have not been in contact with their probation officer in years.

Personally, I think these sick sex offenders should NOT be given an opportunity to be out of prison. If you look at their crimes, 99.9% of them been convicted of multiple sex crimes over many years. I don’t understand why the probation department allows these guys to be released from prison...

My wife and I watched that. There was a high school teacher, and the officer for the department of homeland security among the jackasses they busted.

Makes me scared as hell when I see stuff like that. But I also know I will have my daughters computer rigged even better than I had my son's when she starts using it.

I used a program called "Big Brother" on my son's system. It blocked sites, logged all email and IM sessions, and it would send alerts to my machine if certain flags were set. It was real nice because you couldn't tell it was running at all, and I could check it from my box without him knowing. It was sneaky, but it worked well.

He's listed as "other offense". Perhaps I should worry more about the dog? I'll be sure to leave the goats locked up at night too.

One word: Overcrowding. It's better to have someone out that only wants to molest than murder...Psychologists have a better opportunity to "fix" someone that's "confused" than coroners have an opportunity to bring back Jim from the dead....

This is just a guess...a semi-educated guess with a side of ranting...take it with a grain of salt...

That's a damn good thing to have. I'll be looking into that when my wife even thinks about having kids!:clue:

It worked great because even when he tried to cover his tracks like removing browser history, dumping cache, turning off logging for IM, it didn't matter. You could even look at the background processes and not see it running, it was slick. I'm sure there even better programs out now, this was about 5 years ago.
