Get a portable hard drive to transfer all of your photos.
W/ Photoshop, call Adobe on that one. I'm using the Mac edition of Photoshop, I have yet to try it on a PC.
And use Safari, it's awesome.

Mac for life!

for your ipod, there's a program somewhere that will take them frmo the ipod to your computer, but idk if it works x-platform from pc to mac.

idk if your cs2 activation code will work x-platform. worth a shot though. get cs3 anyways.

is .nef a raw format?

i know adobe stuff is the best on mac for handling photos. Look into getting a student discount for Adobe suite, its worth it. When I was still in college my roommate was a photo major (nickbrandreth.blogspot.com shameless plug) and that's what he used for everything - and he shot in raw formats. can't remember the name of the program though... look on adobe's website.

Easiest way is to copy all your songs onto an external drive in Windows. The folders are there, just hidden. Once you have that, plug the drive into your mac, open iTunes and select "Add to library" Make sure you have the option to copy the songs onto your new harddrive checked.

Firefox on the mac isn't so good. Stick with Safari or if you have to use something else Camino isn't horrible.

For the photos, try Lightroom out. You could also use ACR, I think that Adobe will let you use your CS2 registration on your Mac. Try it first, if it doesn't work give them a call.

+1 on lightroom -- it's great.

about photoshop: the CS2 code may well work, but not on the trial version. the original installation CD/DVD probably is a dual mac/windows disc, so just stick it in and reinstall off of that.

does anyone know of a website that will still allow you to download the trial version of photoshop cs2? adobe used to have it but now only has their cs3 version.

ive been doing some reading and if i understand correctly you can get something called a keygen that will give me the serial numbers for photoshop, looks pretty sketchy to me has anyone had success with one of these? also adobe only has the trial version for photoshop cs3 on their site does anyone know a site that cs2 can be downloaded from? i must be the most boring teenager because i do not use the illegal download stuff, or know anything about it.

You're fishing for illegal info. That don't happen on RM. Save your allowance and buy CS3.

ACR in CS 3 is FAR superior to CS 2. get a legit copy, it's worth it. i barely do any editing in PS anymore. for that matter, you could stick w/ CS 2 and get lightroom for the newer version of ACR.

and buy a canon while yr at it.

If you can get into the ipod harddrive in a window or something like that, Try searching the ipod and leave the searchbar blank. This worked on my PC, could work for you. It brings up a list of everything on the ipod, songs are grouped together and Shift-click and drag. Might work for you

let me guess you have i-tunes on your macbook with no songs on it... plug your i-pod into that and bingo no more music on your i-pod. crappy lesson to learn the hard way about backing up your music.

for transferring your songs, google an app called senuti.
It's free and will make your life a lot easier for getting your music off of your pod.

As far as the right moust button goes, I'm on a macbook pro and there is an option to make two fingers on the pad do the same as apple+click (the equivalent to a right click on a PC). If are on an imac or mac pro desktop, then the mouse has an option to make clicking the right side of the mouse a apple+click.

Too many people think , "oh well, I've lost my right click" and never realize that apple+click does the same thing. A friend of mine had her mac for a year and a half and was totally amazed when I shoed her this!

Yes, but crappy software. It is like removing a manhole cover on a sidewalk with no warnings then blaming the person who fell into it.
iTunes asks you a few times whether you really want to sync with this computer, etc.

It still is stupid. I almost fell for it when plugging my shuffle into my work computer just to recharge it. I don't even know how i-tunes made it onto the computer and I was just about to click furiously at anything to close it out as quick as possible before it brought everything to a screeching halt.

Funny thing about Macs... I have at least a half dozen friends that have converted to Mac and NEVER looked back because they've used mine a few times and really liked them. Bummer about losing all of your musics, but I'm gonna jump on the "user error" bandwagon here, "crappy software" or not.

ok ipod update....

plug ipod into pc last night to get whatever music i had left onto my ipod... well it recognized it as a hard drive like i have it set up for, and when i opened it in my computer all the pictures i had saved to it were on it still, even weirder is that when i went into hidden folders all of my music is still on it, yet dosent show up in itunes, or on the ipod itself. im just going to burn the file to a few dvds then open the dvd in my macbook and drag and drop all the songs.
