Well that sucks. Guess I'll keep all my 20mm stuff then.
As mentioned before, many brands have different end caps and/or conversion kits.
Next the industry needs to move all bikes to the fatbike/DH hub dimensions like some small builders are doing - an actual beneficial change especially for larger/weaker wheel sizes. A narrower axle that saves less than 50 grams up front or half assed end caps on rear isn't good enough.

I do been riding it for about a month now, its fantastic, best quality of travel i have ever ridden. They really did a hell of a job in keeping the fork from diving on steeps/braking. Mine is the solo version, I always keep the fork in 'descend' setting when on the trail, for road climbs or riding back to the car i'll throw it into the climb mode...
I can say that after 8 or so years of riding 20mm forks for xc, i dont miss the 20mm fork at all...The pike feels more stiff than the others.
the hadley conversion actually compensates for the 10mm difference.

Has rock shox finally replaced their crappy seals with the pike or do the fancy stanchions alone make it a decently plush fork? With the positive reviews of the pike, I hope the boxxer gets the same treatment soon and actually becomes a decent fork.
The stanchions do not make it a "plush" fork. Since the beginning of time, certain fork manufacturers have had no problems making "slippery" forks. Others that decided to not use lubrication and grease that packs up in places but doesn't circulate had horrible problems. Complex air spring systems also created issues. Hard coatings have always been used, the latest batch may be better and a nice feature, but this isn't what makes a fork well-damped or well lubricated.

ftfyas with bos fork case, fancy stanchions are not neededproper cartridge and wiper design fixes that :d
They must've figured it out a long time ago - my old school pike is decently plush, and the new lyrik has no issues with stiction, either.
I spent a couple of days in Shawn Cruickshanks' (SRAM/Rock Shox) service center up in Whistler and I saw the new Boxxer and Pike and let me tell you, it seems SRAM is spending a lot more time and resources making quality seals and castings now.
The new boxxer casting looked significantly more refined and the new low friction seals doesn't feel as slick as the Racingbros yet they are a huge step forward compared to the old crappy seals. Also the new boxxer will come with revised Solo Air parts that solve the oil migration issue (oil into neg. chamber).

I just rode my new pike and it seemed real good. Pushed it hard through some very rooty-sections and it handled them better than any fork in that class I've ridden. Really seemed to deal with the quick successive hits like advertised. Very nice.
Any idea when the new boxxer will be released? And will it also have the new damper? Any pics?
manhattan: how much sag are you running and did you put in/take out any of the volume adjusters?
So I got my first ride on it last night. I can categorically say I didn't notice a lack of stiffness coming from my 2009 36 Talas. What I did notice was much, much, more control. I took it on some of the chunkier trails that I typically ride with my trail bike and it performed admirably. Conditions were ideal last night, but still, it was a pretty night and day difference. Also, I sprained my thumb a while back and this was the first ride it didn't ache after a ride. I think this is in part due to the fork.
I wound up using almost all my travel a few times, despite the fork set at 20% sag and LSC set in the middle.. I'm going to add one of those spacers in there to see how differently it rides.
But I can categorically say this is an awesome fork for trail riding. awesome.

Just keep an eye on service intervals, damper side has only 5ml of 0w30 Ultra4 oil as lubrication.
