You can tell that I have a very small room due to the fact that my bike is the biggest object in the room. My other bike is being stored at the shop where I work cuz there's no room for it in our place. And if you're wondering, the answer is yes -- that's an air mattress on the floor, and it's all mine.

But you know what the best part is? It costs $525 a month to share this room. :(

Ah, IV, how I miss thee. I shared an apartment with a couple of buddies a while back, and my room was so small that when I unfolded my bed (sofa bed), it filled the entire room, not even my bike would fit in there. The door would only open halfway. So I slept on it folded up most of the time.
Good times.
Glad I have a bigger place now, but as Zark will testify, about 1/2 of my living room is filled with bikes, or bike parts. Shoot, I even have 2 bikes in my kitchen!
Lovin' the air mattress too chief!

The air mattress rules! I slept on one for about two years...a $20 Target special Queen size. It was actually pretty comfortable but took forever to fill up with air.

When I moved to California I shared a Townhouse with two other guys. I got the master bedroom which was huge. It was pretty funny to walk into my room. I had a big room but no furniture, all I had in there was an air mattress in the middle of the room and my two bikes leaning up againt the wall. :D

Don't forget the computer monitor boxes piled up as a table...

Hahaha...can't forget that. The boxes held up an old wooden lamp that was broken. That was the life...

I have an old pic which shows the boxes, the air mattress, my empty closet, and the back end of the bike. I was living large back then.

Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
My wife and I were just talking about our first apartment yesterday (our 12th anniversary). It was a 750 sq. foot studio. All we had was a mattress, a futon, TV and a card table with two folding chairs. We were both fiercely independent and the fights in that first year were epic. Those fights would always end with one of us getting so pissed that they would retreat to the bathroom and slam the door. You feel pretty stupid when you realize that you have just locked yourself in the bathroom.... It got to be a joke that the other would always claim they needed to use the bathroom to get the other one out without giving in.

12 years and 2 houses later, we still use the card table and now four folding chairs (none of them match) for our kitchen table and chairs. We continue to look for a kitchen table and chairs BUT I'm pretty sure we will never find a replacement.

I almost miss the days when I could fit everything I owned into my car. I only say almost because I know I can't fit my dog and 6 bikes into my car, everything else I can pass on.

Does having a picture of the room on the computer make it feel any bigger? :) Luckily I have enough room for my bikes at my apt now, but I ran into a predicament. Where do I work on them?? Wall to wall carpeting and I need to change the oil in my fork :dead: The kitchen has a linoleum floor but is more of a cooking nook.

Apartments in So-cal (especiall the Santa Barbara area) does suck. I'm lucky, 2 bedroom, 1 bath, and 2 car garage.....all for......$300 a month :)

Well I live with my girlfriend, but we still only take up 1 room. Thank god her parents own things in this town or I'd still be living at home (which was a 2 bedroom apartment as well). Just this one I'm in now has more to see and do as where the other one is in the ghetto westside.

The room we were renting for a while is pretty small. Maybe 10ftx10ftx6ft or so? and we were getting I think $400 for it + utilities. The person though also had access to the garages so it was good for storage and what not.

You're probably living out in I.V. really get reamed I'm guessing? Some of the places are nice, and location to school and such but the monthly rent is just outragious. Some of those 2 bedrooms go for over $2k a month. My girlfriends bro just got done fixing some up out there and they were $2200 a month. What a ripoff!

i absolutely HATE appartments! three bikes, a motorcycle, double decker tool box, bookshelves, couches, there is really no room. It wouldnt be so bad if I could just hack out my appartment and move it out to a piece of property somewhere. I cant stand the neighbors. Rampaging children next door, smokers below (makes for a nice smoke filled appartment), machine gun boy below (nintendo games w/bass), horny people upstairs, cat woman next door, no parking,.. .. theres more to it... but whatever...

Don't feel bad Ben, rent here in SLO is just as expensive for just as tiny a place. BTW, I think I'll be back on sat. Are you or Zark planing any rides?
I don't have any rides planned as of right now, but I'll be working in Goleta on Saturday and Sunday, so feel free to stop on by and bother us.

Looks like we're working together on Sunday Ben. Wanna ride after work or do you have to wash your hair this time? :D

Hey Eric, I'm planning a Sunday Tunnel run at 4:30pm and I'm down to ride Saturday, but don't have any specific plans yet.

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
The hubby & I were just talking about our old apartment and how it was smaller than our garage. I have no idea how we lived there comfortably for almost 2 years, but back then we each only had 1 bike and virtually no furniture, so that made things easier. :D

Please pardon the obscure reference. It is a pic of a brass rubbing from a british nobleman's coffin. Men of his stature were often buried with their best dogs beneath their feet to keep the master's toes warm in the afterlife. Naturally, a nobleman's favorite hunting dog rarely died exactly when his master did, so a little assistance was usually rendered.

Your sleeping position relative to your roomie looked very similar, thus the arcane allusion.
