that's hundreds of hours of my life there... :dead: at least they were enjoyable ones :) . i did buy the "black cars" on day 694, to preempt that question. the breakdown on the licenses was all gold on A and B, all silver with smatterings of gold on the others. i don't think i'm capable of getting all gold on the Super tests in order to get the Model T...

How can you leave just .2% uncompleted? That would drive me insane.

Then again I would never get past the 2nd level...

i would finish it if i could, but this last driving mission is too difficult. the driving missions basically require you to drive a perfect lap (or 3), and this lap happens to be a mammoth 9 minutes long, well over my threshold for making a mistake or two :dead:

Forza Motorsport for Xbox comes out on May 3rd, just played the demo. As a diehard Gran Turismo fan I can honestly say that the driving dynamics of Forza kick the crap out of GT4. Contact with other cars and walls is not nearly so forgiving, and gravel traps slow you down quite a bit more. Your car also incurs damage. It also has all the sweet cars that GT4 doesnt, namely ferrari and a much better selection of porsches. Graphics wise it is a bit of a toss up, but again I'd have to give Forza the edge for having better shadows and reflections. Also, the low in car view in Forza gives a better impression of speed than GT4, I think because the track stays sharper. Definately buying it, and probably wont play GT4 ever again after I do.

Holy crap, that's a lot of work represented there.

I'd probably play for a week straight just to get that last .2% though :p

christ, i got to 68.9% and i havnt really touched it since, just missions, manufacturer races, the lemans 24hours races, and Formula gran turismo series.
ever since i got GTR FIA racing for the PC i just havnt got the urge to play GT4, the handling physics attention to detail and reality of GTR is just mind blowing, and the sounds are just so amazngly accurate, if you've been in a car with a straight cut box you will know that whine it recreates it so well, and the engine tones etc just add so much to the game, its so much fun especially with my steering wheel and pedals.
but i just wish someone would make some sort of rally mod for GTR the realism is so insane, i'd love to hammer the col di turini in the quattro S1 with all the realism and detail that GTR gives you.
i swear the first time i put the game on, the hairs on my arms and neck were on end, and the adrenaline was pumping, the only other game thats had that effect on my was Richard Burns Rally.

anyway sorry i'm getting a bit off topic here.
congrats on the percentage, oh and the aspec points are truely commendable, i take my hat off to you, thats something i dont think i'll achieve any time soon if ever.

55% here,

BTW, whats the best rally game for PS2? Richard burns? WRC4 or CMR2005? I like simulation style not arcade style, and career play with upgrades etc is more than wellcome.

That FIA GTR game, will it run on a laptop with 1.7ghz P4m , 64mb Ati 7500 Radeon and 512mb DDR 266mhz?

simulation rally game, there isnt anythig better than Richard Burns rally, but be warned, ITS BLOODY DIFFICULT!!!! :mumble: i have broken may things in frustration with that game!!! its is just relentlessly uncomprimisingly difficult, a tiny bit more throttle through the corner than it needs and you'll be upsidedown in the nearest ditch, twitch the steering wheel the wrong way "Mr Grill, this is Mr Tree".
but this is exactly why i like it, there is an element of concequence.
just keep all throwable objects out of reach and for the love of god, remember that punching a wall hurts a hell of a lot.
i have never plyed a better rally game though.
it has a season mode, it dosnt have any upgrading system but you do have full control over the car settings.
cars are pretty limited(one of the only things that let it down), but its not really about that, its more about the driving.

CMR05 is great game with a large selection of great cars(its biggest attribute), from all through rally history, but it just dosnt have the same sense of reality as RBR, the handling physics are pretty odd, and rather basic, i'd say its in between an aracde and sim game, its great fun though, if you just want to pick up and play then its great but if you truely are a sim fan you will feel slightly disappointed by the way the cars handle.

WRC04, only played a demo, wasnt too impressed.

GTR should play on your laptop, maybe not on full graphical setting but it should play, i run it with all graphical setting on full
my comp is
1.9mhz P4, 128mb ati radeon 9600pro, 384(or something around that)mb ram etc.

Minimum specs are
1.2mhz
384mb ram
DX8.1 compatible 32mb graphics card
1gb hard drive space

I did the same thing on GT3.
I had 99%, and said screw it.
You would think, oh, If I got that far, I would have to finish, but once you try a couple of things over and over, you realize that it is just impossible.

it's a driving force wheel. my father plays back home with the driving force pro setup so when i return on break we can race head to head :thumb:

fwiw i hated richard burns wrc. sound effects were lame, graphics middling, the overall impression was of less realism even though the damage was certainly more "real".

what's the next driving game i should move onto for ps2?

:D thanks. 100% gets you a lovely black formula car, and completion of missions 30-34 netted the Nissan R92CP i think.

Which is the 'best' car?
for twisty courses (anything except for le mans/circuit de la sarthe basically) the formula car rules all. the group C racers (think le mans) are fastest in a straight line and have better fuel economy and tire life but this advantage is outweighed by the formula car's handling.

you actually get a non-black formula car early on in the game as you need it to compete in at least one of the series so getting one at 100% is only notable since it's all black, a color scheme unobtainable elsewhere.

I think the best non-F1 car and best imho even than the F1 car , is the Audi R8 and the Bentley Speed8 .

If you try WRC4 on Ps2 you will see how poor the rally section in GT4 is... WRC4 is by FAR the BEST rally sim on Ps2, and on PC for that matter.

Also notable for F1 is the F1 2004 for Ps2... great handling.

hmm, maybe i will try WRC4 this summer. i was highly disappointed with World Rally Championship (the ken burns? one). and by "great handling" do you mean "unrealistic arcade style handling"? :D

also, i will take you on with my black F1, you in the R8 on any track except for le sarthe. GT mode, free run (does that still exist), you post the track, we post screenshots of a single best lap time... :p

ok, formula gt was difficult, especially the annoying tracks like hong kong. but it's definitely beatable, even on b-spec if you use proper strategy and qualify ("practice") out at the front of the field.

Totally addicted to Forza here. The damn game has everything. Total customization of any car... complete modification from high parts or completely new engines from other car types (example: Porsche Boxter engine swap a twin turbo 911 engine or imagine a lexus IS with a small block V8) to roll bars and body modifications. You can tune everything to, camber, toe, height, pressure, compression and rebound dampening, differerntial ratios and lock, downforce (with the right body effects), individual tranny gears... oh and complete custom paint jobs. You can race cars in different classes D, C, B, A, S, GT, & R and there are also other specialty races like races for heavy cars, light cars, horsepower ratings, vettes vs vipers, WRX vs EVO.

The graphics are tight, the driving is very realistic, accurate to 0-60 times, braking, cornering, etc.

have you played Grand Prix Legends for pc?? specially the 1965 season mod???
that game is good enough to justify getting a pc and a forcefeedback wheel....

online racing is pretty cool...
racing those 1000lbs 400hp cars on skinny hard tires on the nurburgring and jumping in the back straight is pretty neat..

i´ve read GTR is very good too.. but i havent played it yet. i havent seen it for sale here.
Live for speed is nice, and the online racing is among the finest... it has a free demo that works online...

in my opinion GTR is one of the greatest drivng games ever, the physics are nothing short of amazing, getting a driving force pro next week cant wait to drive the MK1 escort with that daddy of a steering wheel.
if you are a racing sim fan then GTR is a must, YOU HAVE TO GET THAT GAME!!!!!
it is avalible in the US.

as for live for speed, is there a single player mode? i've been tempted to buy it but if it is purely online i aint gonna bother, i want to be able to practice on my own on an empty track without having to crete my own online race and locking it out to other users.

looking forward to Rfactor, just hope my machine will run it.
