Man! If only Victoria didn't have that draconian "1 table per household" law! I guess we can all dream, eh?

lol...see then I would have to buy a table as well as the wheel....I like vidoe games but not that much...D

Note: if a I buy a piece of furniture it's like bikes. I has to be very well made which usually means big bucks!

heh. yeah, the negative is implied: you pick 4 and 2.5 on the settings. positive camber has no use, so it's good that you're not allowed to pick it.

what didn't you like about the settings? too much camber will result in poor braking -- was that your complaint?

maybe I should break down and try it with a Vette...I think I have taken my NSX as fast as I can go...D

ok, what do you all want for your next contest? it'll start officially tomorrow morning (or maybe evening if responses are slow in coming :D), and if someone else wins i hope they respect the voice of the monkies.

short course? long course? the ring maybe? too long?

slow cars? fast cars? production cars? race cars? anyone here NOT have a F1 car or group C / le mans racer like the R8 or 787B? anyone favor the slower cars for their realism?

lots of restrictions on mods vs. go at it? a showroom stock race, nothing allowed to be touched?

that would be nuts. I don't think I'm anywhere near your league, and it's been so long that I'm not sure what cars I have, but I'll be your huckleberry....

well it's your call but I hope you don't pick Nurburgring....it's just too long of a track.

I like the idea of about 5-10 people submitting course, car, and conditions. Then have the winner pick the next one out of all the submissions. That way everyone gets a shot at running their own submission even if they don't ever win.

My local Turismo group has been doing this and so far it's working out great.......D

That would be like driving on ice.

I'm down for anything, though the Ring would be pretty painfully long. If you say bring whatever you have though it pretty much means you have to bring the F1 to win.

No doubt!
I was kidding about the car, but the track isn't that bad. You can't worry about perfection on something this long and that can be a good thing. A horespower restriction would be a good idea to keep the focus on staying on the track.

Leave it open to any touring car only maybe? Leaves a number of cars open but most of them have somewhat limited hp and handle that track well.

Dude, my Zonda would rule on that track! Well, maybe not, it does get a bit squirrelly. And also it's a little undriveable below 100mph or so (2nd gear).

I think my GT4 works in single player, not 2 player, so I'll bust it out in the next day or so...

No, your GT4 doesn't work at all. I've tried to make it happen many times.

It amazes me how much money you will spend on bikes but can't shell out 20 bucks for GT. DO IT, DO IT!

My favorite part was passing my buddy on one of the tracks with a super-long straightaway. He was in one of the DTM Benz cars, and had a bit of a lead since it handled better. But when I blew by him at like 260 or so it was all worth it.
Totally didn't make the corner though.

I don't spend *that* much on bikes. Well, maybe I do. I just hate buying something that I already bought, and spent like $50 on to begin with! Can't I return it since it doesn't work? Wasn't there an issue with the discs to begin with?

Good luck finding a place to refund you on an opened disc, let alone a 3 year old one.

gt4 is $20 now i think...

Yeah but what you don't understand is he would rather spend $250 to fly down here without me knowing, tak my copy of GT4, leave his broken one and fly back just to spite me than spend the $20 to buy a new copy.

In fact, that statement pretty much summs up JustJames in a nutshell.

you get authenticity points for that setup, but why not choose a faster car?

I played a little 2 player last night, and came away surprised at how damned sweet the SLR McLaren is! I had totally forgotten, it's fast, handles like a dream, and stops on a dime.
Damn.

That, and I love my lime green Motorsport Elise.

Uhh, I didn't want to go flying off the track all the time:biggrin:

I'll be outta town most of the weekend, so thats probably the only chance I had for this round.

What should I be looking at car wise? I figured a LM endurance racer wouldn't have the nimbleness for that track.

Also suspension wise what should I be looking at? The conditions seem pretty diverse, so close to stock settings?

I'll be taking one of the superfast race cars for this one, a Toyota I think, but can't remember the name. It brakes super well and is fast as hell.

I've pretty much remember the course by now so hopefully I can kill it with this car.

i think the LM racers are definitely the way to go. i picked the Nissan R92CP myself, but that's because my black one is teh hotness and a half (only buyable at days 694-700 :) -- yeah, i'm a nerd).

IGN said:
Hint: Secret Black Cars
The vehicle line-up in the used car showrooms is constantly changing. On the last week of the changing cycle--starting day 694--four secret black race cars appear in the showrooms. Two of the cars are in the Used Car Showroom I and the other two are in Showroom II, and they only appear for one week (Gran Turismo time). All four cars can be purchased for about Cr.8,500,000 total, which is an absolute bargain for these sort of race cars.

they are hard to control, sure, but as long as you remember where the turns are and drive smoothly and conservatively they're quick. and on the straightaways nothing beats 235+ mph :D .

stock suspension settings, stage 4 turbo, super sticky tires, sloppy driving, Nissan R92CP:

5'53.589"

oh yeah, and driver aids on: 3/3/5, something like that. i CANNOT control the car without them. scary.

the Toyota 7 has the lowest power to weight ratio, and indeed the toyota-minolta LM racer beats out the nissan as well, but i find them harder to drive. i actually find the audi r8 the easiest. maybe i'll give that one a try later.
