I back it. 650 cars, though a bunch of those are super-lame, old-school cars that are neat to look at, but you really wouldn't want to drive/race them. 37HP old-school Honda? No thanks, I'll pass for an NSX.
I prefer to play the game as a two-player game, with a buddy, I really don't enjoy the whole "racing from the bottom/earn the licenses" thing. Don't get me wrong, I think it's really cool, but for me, it's more of a game I play with my buddies. Having said that, a Gameshark helps me get all the cars I want for my garage, pimp out the rides, and no worry about taking 6 months to earn enough money to buy a BMW or a Skyline...
Anyway, I really like the game, it's got intense graphics...
A Gameshark is basically a cheat/code disc that you load before a game, enter the Gameshark codes for money, ammo, unlock licenses (in GT4), etc. I usually hate them, and would never use them for anything except this game. There are codes for tons of different games. You have to realize that if you use it to "beat" a game, you really didn't "win." I just use it to unlock different race courses/cars in GT4 that would take me forever to do normally. For me, GT4 is a two-player game... www.gameshark.com
You can get them wherever you buy video games, they're about $30 or so...

This game is actually really cool and i like it. You can upload data off of your memory card from the last game such as liscenses(sp?) and money etc. i really like the game.

Holy ****, did the international A license test last night, took us two hours to pass IA-15. You have to do an entire lap of Nurburgring in an old school Mercedes E190. When we finally beat it, it was the first time any of us actually finished the lap without going off the course (automatic failure).
Game is incredible though, awesome graphics, good selection of cars. I gotta disagree with James though on the two player, I'm not a fan. When the screen is cut in half its too hard to see the track and I'm always missing turns. Maybe its cause we play on like a 19" TV, but I still think the game only lives up to its full potential in single player mode.
i am super psyched for this game. should be ready and waiting when i come home for spring break...
for you gt3 a spec vets, are the license tests really that much harder than, say, the super license tests in gt3? how about harder than getting silver?
tracks are nice, lot more cars. physics is different. seems to be more geared towards the wheel/pedal than the controller. too bad it still shows limitations of the ps2, such as only racing with one other car when you choose the shelby cobra 427 and the top down.
I got the game last week and I'm really enjoying it. It has a ton of cars and a bunch of new tracks. Some of the tracks (like Motegi, Suzuka, and the Super Speedway) have different variations as well to make for even more tracks. The physics have changed a bit so the cars seem to understeer a lot more than before making it much faster to do the 'slow in, fast out' approach to cornering. The graphics are better, but they are aren't tons better.
I haven't found the license tests to be that much harder than GT3. I'll typically get bronze on my first try and work my way towards silver - I haven't had the patience yet to go for golds.
My best cars now are a 500hp Skyline, a 325hp Silvia, and a Lotus Elan.
