Hey there.

I've searched here, and on mtbr and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I just got my Stratos Helix Pro today, and I'm having trouble pumping it up! I lose all my air when I try to take the pump off.

This is driving me nuts...what am I missing here?

The shock will hold air, as I can trap about 50psi. I lose my air when I unthread the pump chuck.

Help! :(

For what it's worth, here's what my pump looks like:

Brian's right. You need the extra adapter, it threads to the inside of the valve. I think you might be able to use one of the older SID adapters. I used one of the Risse adapters on my SID, so I think it will work the other way round...

What does this adapter look like?

Any pics of the Risse pump that I could find were too small.

My pump did come with another piece, but I couldn't thread it in anywheres....it looks like it might thread in with the valve core, but it seemed like it doesn't quite fit and I didn't want to force it.

Heh...if this is the piece I'll feel so dumb :)

Edit: No, I'm sure this extra piece is to fit another valve type. Oh well, I'm heading off the the LBS today, I'm sure they can sort me out.

Hrm...well the wrench at my LBS had the same problems. We tried four different pumps, and all failed to disengage without letting all the air out.

Looks like I'll have to give Stratos a call Monday.

Could a faulty schraeder valve cause this? Say it was sticky or something, and didn't pop back into place quick enough?

Poop, I was looking forward to using my new shock this weekend! :(

Last week while adj. air valve broke, unscrewed with valve remover little tool and bought 5 new valves for $2 at Pep Boys Auto Store. Screwed in new valve and was saved:)

Are the valve cores exactly the same? They look the same, but there's much higher pressure in a shock than a car tire.

Glad you mentioned that though, I'll try that tomorrow.

Ya I was surprised only ones they had were the ones I was looking for, you didn't compress your shok w/out any air in it I hope. Probably not if you read the directions with the shok. Yes so far the valves are working and there was no pressure recomendations on the package of the new valves

Nope, I've been careful to not compress the shock at all until I get this figured out.

That cool that normal valve cores seem to work, maybe a new core will solve my problems.

Haha. Sweet.

So I went shopping for a valve core tool plus valve cores.

I got home and when I tried to take the existing valve out of my shock, I noticed it was loose.

So I snugged it up, et VOILA! It holds air!

Thanks to all who replied!!

Time to do some riding! :D :D
