You don't need a demo, just buy one. I promise they're awesomeGoddammit. Just realized that GG apparently was at the CFRF yesterday and I could have demo'd a MT.
Is there anybody over 225 that rides a fox 36 that can give me a few tips on getting it tuned in? I've got my CCDBA tuned in petty close already.
what kind of delivery time are they predicting ?I've placed my order for a new Trail Pistol in Large: anyone in Central Kentucky that's interested in a test ride, be patient, it's coming.
Their website is showing 3-4 weeks right now, and that's what they communicated to me.what kind of delivery time are they predicting ?
It requires a 55mm chainline, which can be done several ways: Race Face cranks with the standard 134mm spindle, direct mount ring, flipped, and put the 2.5mm BB spacer on the non drive side, Race Face cranks with the 143mm spindle installed per normal, or Sram cranks with a 0mm offset chainring.does the Trail Pistol require a boost compatible crank set/sprocket ?

I usually like the look of direct mount chain rings, but I will probably switch to the CAMO set-up after I wear out the included ring. Just nice to be able to swap out rings without removing the cranks- plus, I can run a longer-lasting stainless ring with this set up, and have it be lighter than a stainless direct mount. Can't wait to get this bike!It requires a 55mm chainline, which can be done several ways: Race Face cranks with the standard 134mm spindle, direct mount ring, flipped, and put the 2.5mm BB spacer on the non drive side, Race Face cranks with the 143mm spindle installed per normal, or Sram cranks with a 0mm offset chainring.
Details wise, the cranks are the same cranks we use on the Megatrail, but with the flipped chainring per above.
If you're looking to run that One Up ring, it can likely be flipped just like the normal Race Face rings. It appears to have 1mm less offset than the RF rings, so you would likely leave the BB spacer on the drive side vs mounting it on the non drive side.
Wolftooth also has solutions if you're looking to retrofit existing cranks. Their CAMO system is pretty modular, and can make a 55mm chainline.
Soooooooo, it's a game changer?it's really not worth running out and buying one if you're pretty happy with a CCDBa. If you're expecting a night and day change you'll be disappointed.
Rockshox doesn't yet have any coil shocks in 210x50, but we designed the Trail Pistol to work well with them when available. The ElevenSix should be ready this winter.you guys gonna test the TP with a RockShox coilover with a climb mode as well?? or just offer it with the Monarch or the PUSH ??
Winter. ElevenSix.With a ROCK SHOX rear shock..... damn I hate those piles of crap. I want LSC and HSC compression. Guess a X2 is in order for me at some point down the road.
Only on the megatrail. You'd probably be fine on a trail pistolBut Push discriminates against fat people like me.
well whats your thoughts??View attachment 123342
Just received this from the delivery guy on Wednesday- wasn't able to finish building until last night, so no shots out on the trail yet. To help with my BAMF duties, I wanted a frame color that would stand out. I'd say I checked that box. I think I'll call it the "Pinkbike Freedom Linkage Haters Edition"- kind of long, but I'll work on it.
well whats your thoughts??
I'll say that I'm currently bashing the shit out of the same trails I was running an SB-66 on (6" of travel), and the Trail Pistol has not disappointed. I'm fat, and really don't pick great lines, but I have yet to really have a bottom out situation. This bike feels as capable as my Niner WFO 9, and pedals much snappier.GG would you guys consider doing a 29" version of the MegaTrail ?? I want 29" wheel but don,t think the 120mm is gonna be enough at the end of the day .

I've done some prelimnary testing of front wheel size on my MT. I've mostly been running it in 29" mode since I bought it. But last weekend at Mammoth I tried a 27.5. I think I like the 29" more. The 27.5 doesn't really make it feel more manuverable, but just less stable in techy stuff. However I think I'd have to try a 27.5 fork with reduced offset to get a real apples to apples comparison. Running a 27.5" in a large offset 29" fork probably makes it feel mostly likea 29" front wheel anyways. You can run a 29" front end on a Megatrail, which I've done and liked, or if less travel works, the Trail Pistol with a 140 fork is pretty capable. If you're riding somewhere that you're wishing for a DH bike, it will be short on travel, but for most rides, it's pretty awesome.
@mtg would you guys consider doing a 26" version of the Trail Pistol?? I want the stiffness of a high quality 26" wheel but don't think I always need 150 mm at the end of the day.
