How are you going to build it up? Mainly, wheels/tires?
It depends on how easy it is to use some existing parts. I have a set of 27.5 Stan's Flow EX wheels I thought could fit in there, (142 hub) shimming the end caps and rotor like we discussed. After looking closer I realize you were dishing 3mm on a 148 hub, not 142. I'm not sure this will work. If I have to build a new wheel I'll get a 148 hub.

Tires are what I've got; Minions, HRs, maybe a SS rear. 2.5 front, 2.3 rear. Not plus sized.

Tell me this; what's the decision for welding in a seat tube gusset vs seat tube "tube" brace? Is it a frame sizing thing? I mean, there is a whole bunch of seat tube above the TT junction, obviously some bracing is needed.

You should be able to make the 142 hub work, just dish the rim over further once the hub spacer is on there.

The seat tube brace used to be a tube, but the new version looks better, is lighter, stronger, amd easier to make.

^^^ I don't usually feel like I can gain much info from watching these (but I do enjoy them). This one for some reason really seems to convey that this bike is mowing over chop ridiculously well. The Smash is an apt name I think.

  • Dave Mustaine has launched an exclusive Megadeth beer in partnership with the world class craft brewery, Unibroue. Unibroue is among the most highly awarded breweries in North America. Its beers have earned over 296 international medals to date........

nope. Uni (think of a Brit saying they're going to school) - and "brooo" (the "r" emanates from the back of your throat, or rolls off the tip of the tongue... kinda like a Scot saying Irn-Bru - whether your roll your "r"s depends on which region of Quebec you're from)

@mtg : hey Matt; Pedalhead is 65.5* HA, what A2C measurement is that based on?
120mm travel 29er fork

Also note, if you're going to run smaller diameter tires, if the BB ends up a bit low, the Philcentric BB can be used to raise it 5mm.

Any luck getting the 142 wheel work in the 148 frame?

There are a few spots left for the Monarch Camping Weekend. The campground is near the top of Monarch Pass, and we'll be riding from camp on Friday and Saturday. If anybody is interested in grabbing the remaining spots, email Bikes@RideGG.com

Friday ride:
Campground to Monarch Pass, Monarch Crest to Green's Creek, down Green's (3k of descending)
Shuttle ride back to Monarch Pass, Monarch Crest to S. Foose's Creek, down Foose's
Shuttle ride back to campground

Saturday ride:
Campground to Monarch Pass, Monarch Crest to Starvation Creek, down Starvation to Elevation Brewing.
Shuttle ride back to campground

Sunday ride:
Alpine Tunnel loop from St. Elmo. Most of the climbing is on 3% grade railroad bed, descending is alpine singletrack to 4x4 road.

Fake news ^^^

Well, not really, that did happen, but it was melted almost immediately, and the CDOT cameras were showing it dry a day later. I rode nearby on Mt Antero up to 13k' the next day and it was dry up there.
