so is that the closest you're gonna get to hate mail?Ah, I misunderstood you the first time. As far as what the other industry composites guys said, it’s unlikely they would tell a reporter “shit, we should have figured this out and started doing it ourselves by now”. However, that has been happening privately. Our material supplier said they’ve heard almost exactly that from some “big guys” in the industry.
Sure, if it has shredded it’s last trail, we can recycle it.So is the an aluminum recycling plan to trade in my old MT for a new plastic one?
I'm on a first gen first batch megaderp if you wanna do some lifecycle testing on it.Sure, if it has shredded it’s last trail, we can recycle it.
I’m not sure on the specifics of those numbers. It seems grim, but maybe that includes recreational mountain bikes (sub $2000), or encapsulates some other shrinking market. From the article: "The bike industry could (need) some reinvigoration right now. Revenues have been flat to declining since 2010, and in 2018, sales of bikes decline in units by 10 percent year over year. The mountain bike category especially suffered, with a 28 percent decrease in bikes sold."
Do you know if it is for the US market or a worldwide trend?
Also, you should RADcycle™ it.Sure, if it has shredded it’s last trail, we can recycle it.
@mtg really appreciate you coming on here and keeping everyone updated. can only imagine how hectic it is over there right now. do you guys have an approximate for when you might start making the size 2s?
No problem. It’s pretty crazy, scaling manufacturing at this pace is a thing. When we hire the next round of folks, we may need to put a Johnny on the Spot in the parking lot. There’s almost a line for the pooper now.
If anybody followed Tesla scaling up the Model 3 production in 17-18, this must feel similar, albeit obviously not quite the same scale.
i'm hoping this is because you underestimated your forecast and not technical issues. We’re behind schedule
This was the FIRST thing that came to my brain when I heard about the Megatower a few days back.Mike Sinyard wants to know when you're suing Santa Cruz for the Megatower name.
How big are you? Because at 6'1" the L Megatrail felt HUGE to me.<snip>
Whoever delivers goon size to market first, once funds come together, will be ultimate decider.

GG in a L might be just right.6'4
I'm wholly unfamiliar with GG sizing as they don't exist around here, yet.
My XL nomad3 is smaller than I'd like so the XXL megatower (again need to check new fit versus HT-LT) was the plan before the smash caught my eye.
Dude, please, “large” is not the term we use. Size 4 is the preferred nomenclature.GG in a L might be just right.
Thats cool, as long as i get my fleshlight ill be happy. No raw on the rear triangle, the purpose of only doing one powder coat color/finish was to speed things up quite a bit in manufacturing. We knew there were going to be lead times, and this helps more than you would think at keeping them moving faster through the system.
Speaking of serial numbers, my personal Pedälhead is s/n 666. Back when I put it in the queue, we noticed that number coming up soon, and I put dibs on it.
When I got my 11-6, I talked with Darren about setting up my shock exactly like this (on a V1 Megatrail). It worked great--he suggested a digressive tune for the "trail" setting and it was great for trail riding and jump trails. The full on DH setting was actually still good for rougher trail riding, but was amazing for DH. Darren actually said this was a very common request from GG users.@mtg, I'm likely going the Push route when I order.
Based on reviews it sounds like plush will be my go-to setup, with the shock modes set up for trail and lift/shuttle days.
My goal is to use shock to extend usable range of bike rather than a climb/descent mode etc.
For example, our VT trips often involve long trail rides in morning and shuttles/park in afternoon.
What push set ups have you seen/ridden and any suggestions?
do you do any lift service bike park days on it?When I got my 11-6, I talked with Darren about setting up my shock exactly like this (on a V1 Megatrail). Since then, I've run the same basic idea on a aluminum Shred Dogg and just got the shock rebuilt to go full strength Megatrail. Bottom line: I think this is the best use of the 11-6 and is what makes the cost and weight of the shock worth it for people with expected usage similar to ours.
I will answer for him and say "nope", but there's been a buncha Pisgah days on it, and those can be as brutal as almost any lift serve place. I would also say that several of the places close to us (e.g. Baileys, Sugar, Beech) aren't super conducive to anything short of a real DH bike. You of course can ride those places on basically anything, but it would beat the amoral fuck out of you if you're riding it at pace with a Shred Dogg or similar bike. For smoother, less hectic places, I'm sure a GG MT or Smash with a 11-6 would be great...do you do any lift service bike park days on it?

my dh bike is largely collecting dust these days. what i'm considering is having a set of DH wheels/tires for my MT (i already have stuff to build this up) and maybe a burlier fork for lift access days. a coil shock would be a nice upgrade, but maybe a little farther down the road. sell the DH bike to fund a trail pistol.I will answer for him and say "nope", but there's been a buncha Pisgah days on it, and those can be as brutal as almost any lift serve place. just out of curiosity, anyone ever stick a dual crown fork on a megatrail?
I went back in time to get the answer, because I am a wizardNo dual crown fork on the Megatrail.
i'm looking for anyone who breaks the rules.I went back in time to get the answer, because I am a wizard
FIXED!!<snip> sell the DH bike to fund a couple grams of decent weed.
That’s a generous appraisal for a 26” DH bike.FIXED!!
I was originally gonna go with "a couple oz's"... but... come on.That’s a generous appraisal for a 26” DH bike.
Funny! Turns out I like jokes too. Let's see, how bout this one: a priest, a stripper and plumber all go to a bar and die. Why? Because they went to a crab0n bar.*reads with interest while sitting at the top of the yellowbuck hike-a-bike*
