Seriously, I cant believe it weighs as much as it does. I dont even have slime in the tires either, so that'll bring me over 27. I dont care THAT much, I just wasnt expecting such a weight.

Sweet ride! Are you healed up enough to rock it for real? We all know you have enough experience with handjobs.

I got my Steelhead functional yesterday. I need to run a stiffer (and shorter maybe) crank and a chain device of some kind. I might run a bash too, but I'm not 100%.

I will toss it on the scale this week when I am in the shop looking at chain guides. Not sure if mine is much lighter, but compared to my 46.5 pound race rig, this thing feel like a feather.

Nice looking steed there, enjoy. It weighs as much as it does because you've got a solid, sensible build that won't cry uncle if you actually get out and ride it hard.

You put XTR, Thomson, Selle Italia and Crossmax on there... you know you CAN build it with cheaper parts, don't you? :p

Looks sweet! I'm suprised it'll be over 27lbs, makes me wonder how much mine weighs. Maybe I'll take it down to the weight room at our apartment complex and weigh it one of these days ;)

BTW, just read your other thread... and you always need about a pound to a pound and a half of misc. weight when you are estimating bike builds. Manufacturers will state the light end of their weight variations... some don't include bolts or other hardware... there's housing and cables... grease... hydraulic fluid... cable ferrules... all individually small weights that end up adding up to a bit.

Of course that's just tossing aside that some manufacturers are just plain dishonest with their claimed weights.

BV yours probably weighs 34 or 35 depending on wheels. My Vagrant weighs 35.
35 was my estimate. I could lose two pounds in these tires alone though, and still have plenty of size and beef :p

It's all about the ride, not the ride. Or something like that.

I read somewhere(like in the manual, website, ???) that Marzocchi doesn't include the steerer tube in its shock weights.

At least a couple of the models/years used to not include oil... in an open bath fork .

Yeah, I realized I wasnt going to have a 19lb XC race machine when I started, as my aim was to build a "mountain bike" in the simplest sense of the term.

Riding out at Pisgah this year put a hurting on me. Im in pretty decent shape, but while watching people I know Im as good as pull away from me up hills, I knew my Bullit was just way too much. Also, Im beginning to look at this sport in an entirely different way. Used to be I jsut wanted to go jump off stuff and rail corners, go as fast as I could, sprint all the time. Now Im seeing things as more of an "exploration" if that makes any sense.
I just want to go ride new trails in new places and not ahve to worry about linkages exploding or shocks blowing or my bike weighing 40 pounds. I want to get as far back into the woods and as far away from people as I can get.

Jimmy, I still have to take it easy on the foot for now. I can ride trails, but its going to be a progression, and I really dont want to re-injur myself. Will hit a trail in the next few days tho, god willing.

Good luck on the exams too.
Around 2k I think... not so bad in the grand scheme. Plus a bunch of parts i had that i traded for newish bits on this bike.

Chang, the dual controls, Im not used to them either, if I hate them, well, someday they'll break.

Jeez, That is a very cool machine. I like the direction change in riding too. All day just riding to get lost epics are cool

Makes sense to me. A bike you can ride in 98% of the situations you encounter. Instead of a bike that is ready for the other 2% and makes you suffer for the rest of your ride. Nice bike.
