who's doing it and how much?

I know this is a personal preference kinda thing, just trying to see what's being done across the spectrum of widths.

yea a lot of the kids i rode w/ in college had their bars slammed as narrow as they could get... grips running past the curve, cutting grips short to fit, all that craziness.

Wide as your shoulders, easiest way to go. Put your arms straight down on them, give maybe an inch or half inch from your hand on the outsides, hack away.

    Or do what ya like.

I think she looks lovely, I've updated her bars, stem and forks. Still 31" Solid bars but 4 bar style. I haven't had time to get new shots but plan on doing so in the next couple days.

ya shoulder width is a good way to measure. i run either 25-26 or 28"(diff bars) on my two-six , 25.5" on my 20" and about 28" on my MTB.

26-27" is shoulder width for me. i can run a little less or a little more and still be comfortable. i prefer wider bars usually for the crazy amount of leverage you have, but running them around 26" or so is very comfortable. on my 20, i like to run shorter grips to make the bars feel a bit wider since i don't like gripping the end of the bars.
