Haha, thanks you blokes much appreciated.
Had an interesting day yesterday to say the least. My old girl arrived from Australia for her annual visit so had lots of little goodies which was nice (nice big bottle of valium-you little beauty)

Yesterday was the World Cup cricket final (I know meaningless to you fellas but a big deal in Australia) so we arranged to watch on the big screen projection thingie at my mates place. Was the ducks nuts. So I'm going into town on the train, I took the express instead of the local which I don't usually do. Anyway we were about 500 metres from the station, starting to slow down when suddenly the anchors are applied and we come to a shuddering halt. A few people who were already standing up went arse over tea-kettle. We were half-way through a level crossing. We sat there for a while and I heard an announcement which I thought said "we've had an earthquake" but I'd misheard. The train had run over some-one!!!!. The poor woman ended almost directly underneath where I was sitting, well most of her anyway. Within 10 minutes the cops, fire and rescue and the paramedics were all their running around like mad things. I kind of knew things were bad when all the the neck-braces and stuff were put away and the rubber gloves and plastic garbage bags came out. The coppers came on the train and asked us to close the curtains while they removed her. I didn't see anything thankfully but she looked like she might have been in a few pieces. The worst part was when I could see 3 or 4 cops hovering around something, making a list. They had her hand-bag, purse, shopping bags etc. That was really poignant to me, a reminder of how quickly a life can end. I don't really know the details yet but the cops are calling it an accident not a suicide.

I was very impressed by the emergency people, very efficient and thorough. The walked along the length of the train 3 or 4 times, making sure everyone was OK and no-one was freaking out. We got going after about an hour. My mate was there to pick me up. I told him I'd quite happily live out the rest of my life without having to deal with anything like that again. The people who have to deal with this kind of thing on a daily basis like Manimal, Eric and Dog Welder ( I think) are hardier souls than me and my respect for what they do went up ten-fold.

So I've finally got to my mates place and got the cricket going. The match was in Barbados so didn't start until 10.30pm Japan and then was delayed for 3 hours by rain. My mate lives down-town right in the guts of town so we went off for a few brews before play started. So about 2 am the game started, the Aussies won (3-peat, you little ripper). About 6am me and my mate have ducked downstairs to have a quick ciggie in the street and we've spotted something lying in the road, I thought it was a mannequin someone's thrown there. We've gone for a closer inspection and it was this young bloke and he was pale-deathly pale, I've never seen a whiter face, I thought he was dead. We've given him a slap and nothing, couldn't find a pulse so we started to panic a bit but he stirred a little so we knew he wasn't dead but I reckon he was pretty close. He couldn't walk, talk or do anything but we walked him around a bit and some colour did return to his cheeks. At this point a cop car has turned up and I've flagged him down and explained as the situation as best I could given I was 3 sheets to the wind myself. The coppers have got our details and thanked us for helping then dumped him in the back of the patrol car and taken off.

All in all a very eventful and memorable birthday. Didn't get home until 9 am this morning. Bloody hell, I'm getting too old for this sh*t.;)

Thanks again all for the birthday wishes.

Jeez, I can't figure out whether I want to come celebrate your birthday w/ you next year, or if I want to avoid ever celebrating or even being near you on your birthday...
