Hello! I just woke up...not sure what I'm going to do today. I had a nice weekend. I rode both days, but I'm pretty sore now. I think hitting all those drops Saturday put a hurting on my body. :dead:

Us state employees have the day off, yay.

So let's see, I'm planning on doing a bit o' yard work, maybe going out for a little ride, maybe change the oil in the old truck.

Sounds exciting, eh?

The man in brown dropped off the very last part for my ss project bike. I've got everything I need, except the frame's gotta painted. It's kind of exciting, I've never put a bike together before...

Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
I was total vegetable yesterday. I think I ventured off the couch 3 times. My saturday ride left me pretty knackered and I'm still leg weary today. However, my wife and I have the day off and are going to bum around town with Willow. So that's going to be a good day.

Might try to spin some this afternoon if I don't see a little more recovery as the day goes on.

A storm settled over Va for a solid three days through Saturday so I was relagated to the road bike. Did my favorite 75 mile loop. Started out at my normal pace but the legs crapped out on my for the last 20 miles. Spent the rest of the day cleaning a few rugs in hillbilly fashion. Draped them over the deck and hit them with the pressure washer.

Out of my mind, back in a moment.
Morning. 2 exams today mired among a bunch of classes. I spent the weekend sick with some kind of cold or something. Seems to have moved from my head down into my throat. How wonderful.

JD, that little injury sounds pretty nasty. Good luck to him with it.

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
Morning! I am home chillin' with Sydney today. So far, we have eaten breakfast and crawled around the living room to play with a variety of toys that I had set out for her. Next, we're going to go to the basement and do laundry!

Had a nice SS ride on Friday night. My legs felt but I just felt like I was slow the whole ride (Sq-Earl and his friends disagreed, but I still felt slow). Saturday we took Syd out for a nice long hike to scout a new trail and a little trail maintenance (she thinks raking leaves is hilarious). Then we picked out some pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. Yesterday we went to a 50th anniversary party and that took up the vast majority of the day :(

I'm working also:disgust:

Kinda glad because it's cold and drizzly today, commute in was very wet and cold. Supposed to be snowing this evening....yuck!

But we had an awesome weekend. Saturday it was in the 80's and I got a 3hr CX ride in and on Sunday we rode XC for a couple hours on a newly opened trail. We rode with our friend who is also a Bionicon rep, my bf got to test ride a new one, those bikes are so cool.

Ugg, I had a perfect day of riding with a great group but on the last run my buddy (occasional RM poster pirate28) clipped a tree stump at speed and snapped his fibula. The rest of the afternoon and most of the evening was spent evacuating him from the mountain and hanging out in the ER. My ass feels whooped today.

Jeeeez...I'm happy I went to my daughter's soccer match then watched the Eagles/Cowboys game instead of riding. I have done the exact same thing as your buddy pirate, smashing my shin into an adjacent log on that exact trail. The difference? I smashed a huge dent into the skin of my shin(which later died and regrew) through my Roach knee/shin protection, but the bone didn't break. I credit my thick, stubby legs and the good fortune of having my leg/foot ripped backward off the pedal at speed for not also busting a fibula. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to your bud.

Might have even been the same log. Who knows??? It sucked but we were lucky that the 4wd guys were up there. Everything worked out well considering. You missed a great ride, other than the stressful little bit towards the end.

The log I hit was on the right side of the pipe run just after the clearing in the pine trees where the Catoctin Trail crosses it. It was a log perpendicular to the trail, suspended about a foot above it on the trail-side by a log parallel to the trail, about 8" in diameter and obscured by trail-edge overgrowth and leaves. After the impact, I lay in the trail writhing for 10 minutes amazed to see the skin and subcutaneous flesh smashed flat against the shinbone. My shinguard was dented, too, but not so badly as my shin. It itched for several weeks as the old skin there died and flaked off to reveal new skin beneath it.

I wonder if the 4WD jeepers were the same ones I've yelled at before for pulling down jumps on the pipe run so that their vehicle could fit in the narrow trail running up the hill.

Nope must have been a different tree. This was down past the turn off for the jump line in the meat of dirty hippy, just before the really steep exit.

Ewwwww. Did it leave a crater?

That would be the irony of it all wouldn't it?

Hahaha..."Dirty Hippy". I assume you mean the straight ahead continuation of the pipe run that dumps out at the bottom of Hamburg Road where the creeks come together at the bigger pull-off parking lot.

For a good while, there was a concave depression in my shin that my riding buds would chuckle over but now you can't tell it ever happened.

Spring/Summer rainstorms and Winter precipitation are like reset buttons when it comes to riding in the 'shed. They pick up all the logs, loose boulders and assorted junk only to redeposit them in the middle of the lines made "smooth" the previous season. It's dangerous as hell for those who blast the trails balls-to-the-wall, as I've had friends nearly decapitated or destroyed by new low-hanging logs or fresh obstructions.

Yes that's the trail, I don't know where the names come from. We actually did some impromptu trail work clearing deadfall/decapitators and shoring up the last jump on pipe. It was in pretty bad shape.

Ditched the relatives and rode DH for close to 5 hours at Jiminy Peak with the infamous Ulmer family (viciousdher)! Kicked my ass/legs/arms, etc...and found out the secret of a good dh race run: 2 Labat Blues beforehand...
