sweet! what're you going w/, and what lenses are you looking at?
I spent 2 weeks debating between the Rebel XT and the 20D. Ended up going with the Rebel XT, so I could have some cash left over to get some better lenses. I have not decided on any lenses yet. Where did you get your 50mm?

So have you been taking a lot of pic? I'm freaking jealous!
I would love to take a refresher photography class.
I have not been taking many pictures lately, because I've had lots of stuff at home going on. My camera was shipped today, so hopefully this weekend I'll get to play. :D

Happy Wednesday everyone. Is anyone else ready for the new season of The Shield to start? I didn't get FX up here last year so I had to get the last season on DVD - I have about 4 more hours to watch before next Tuesday's season premiere. WOOHOO Skate skiing & snowboarding, drinking, riding, and watching The Shield - I have my weekend planned. :)

sounds like a good choice. same sensor. the additional features of the 20D are probably wasted on me.

i searched via pricegrabber and found that amazon had the best price (via some camera store).

here's a Froogle search:

I'm enjoying the fact that my gym is within walking distance from the house because I can just decide to head over whenever the mood strikes, went over last night after dinner and had a nice little work out.
Speaking of the gym, I went to the Y last night completely forgetting it was Jan 3rd. By the time I left the place was completely overwhelmed. It'll be a few weeks before it gets back to normal.

First day back to work after a week off. I had 1005 new emails waiting for me. Most of them wanted to sell me Viagra. We're trying to close our issue and I want to strangle some of our freelance writers who are complete morons. I hate when people promise to do something and then don't do it. Anyway, have a great day everyone. It's so pretty here after yesterday's snow and we're supposed to get more tonight.

Monrning y'all. Work is nutty right now. I was gone last week for the Bowl game and I will be in San Franciscon next week for the MacWorld conference. Some of my co-workers find it difficult to schedule things in a timely manner, so now they are freaking out about some press deadlines. Oh well, it all has to get done by Friday.

On another note...
Hey Narlus, do you remember a band called the Straw Dogs? They had one great album called "We are not amused" and I think they were from Boston.

Damn, I think that they were a bunch of ex-members of the FUs. I had a tape of that album back in 1987 or something and it wore out. I haven't been able to track down a copy of the album since.

Yeah, that's them. The Straw Dogs was the metaller version of the FUs (I think that they added another guitar or something). I don't remember that one, but "Young, Fast, Iranians" was totally awesome.

SWEET! Thanks.

Nope, not them. I saw that band on iTunes yesterday when I was cashing in a gift certificate. I was looking for music from back in the day that I don't have anymore.

narlus said:
I am already listening to those! The came up on my most recent search. Everyone once in a while I google the album. It'll turn up on some online record store. But those lists are usually out of date, and it is already gone.

My office neighbor has stepped up annoying a notch, he is playing some crappy music too loud to ignore. If I had to guess he got a Power Ballads CD for Christmas.

I may have a 4GB Memory Stick Pro for sale very soon. Just bought the damn thing and it won't work with the digital video camera we bought :mumble: even though I was told that it would!
What's wrong with it? Physical fit or does the camera just not recognize it?

hey Shrymp -

if you need some flash storage for yr camera, hop on this deal today (rebate is only good until purchases made today)

Kingston Elite Pro 2GB card for $90 after rebate
Shrymp , Narlus

I am also getting one of those 50 mm 1.8 lenses would be nice to have a little more speed some times. but with my rebel , ( besides the 18-55) I bought a Tamron 70-300 zoom. and I bought an ebay special a Canon elan II with a 35-105 zoom , the body didn't work but the lens was mint for $40 tossed the body kept the lens.

now what I also want is a true Wide angle lens that is comnpansated for the 1.6x focal lentgh of the digital.

also Instead of 1 big flash card I have 4 512mb ones that way I just put them in the computer and burn the entire contents straight to cd . although 2gb for $90 does sound temting

That super wide angle isn't going to come cheap. You're talking $600+ for a 10-12mm at the wide end for a Canon branded lens.

You can get a Tamron 11-18 f/4.5-5.6 for ~$550 or a Tokina 12-24 f/4 for ~$450. That Tokina looks awfully nice, plus it's a constant aperture...

splat, nice grab on the Canon lens.

how's the Tamron treating you?

this is a good site for info on the Canon:

http://www.the-digital-picture.com/

the Tamron has been quite good it is the 70-300 f 4 -5.6 I have no complaints with it. I used it a lot to take pictures of Pop warne foot ball games this past fall, and I got some really awesome shots with it.

I have wondered how the 2X adapters work other than losing an f stop or 2

Significant image quality degredation. You'd probably be okay if you only ever printed 4x6's and viewed web-size images. But there is a lot of quality degredation when using 2x adapters.

1.4x gives you a decent increase while still retaining some good quality...

There are some reviews of mirror lenses like the one you posted kicking around. I believe Luminous Landscape did a review of one - do a Google search and you'll see some.
