I need to ride more, get offroad more, and generally increase my level of skill at fitness.
I might buy another squishy bike soon, once I sell off all my excess parts... and when I get the big bike, there's a pretty mean curb I've been eyeing off
Remember the curb is not your friend, hit it hard and hang on. an average 8" drop can be very terrifying. My stairs are 2' tall and bring a nervous sweat every time I sit above them looking way way down. I feel like I'm on top of the worl all 24" up there.
Then the nervous butterflies start, my hands sweat and I get tunnel visin. I tell myself I can do this just before I back out. Thinking of just the shear hangtime atleast 1/2 a second is too long. What if my bike flies out of control or I don't ever land. WHOAAAA!
I'll be hitting Whistler for the first time and at least once, probably twice a month. I'd also like to learn to jump with more style, maybe even do a few simple "tricks."
O.K. here's my real resolution.
I need to learn to do bigger drops, do whistler, brundage and signal hill in Spokane.
Road gaps bigger than 15', and ofcourse tricks.
Help others with tip on big air, like bring the front end down - hit the front brake slightly. bring the rear end down - hit the rear brake. table tops- kick out and slow the rear tire.
Any tips that others have learned wether it be cornering or rock gardens lets post it to help all.
faster and more confident in general on the DH bike
more bike handling skills and control on both DH bike and the "fun" bike
ride more XC, dammit.
learn to jump and be comfortable in the air.
work on my style and quit being a pussy when it comes to jumping. i hate jumps. so im gonna work on those. and you can never stop improving so im ognna work on my tech stuff too
my goals are to learn how to bunnyhop to manual (and improve my weak manualling while i'm at it!), to be able to do the middle line at the whistler dirt jumps and to clear the jumps on crabapple hits, and to not screw up my hands or shoulders any more this upcoming season.
I want to do it all on one bike. In other words simplify, I am tired of not riding because I don't have all my gear in order etc. I just want one nice capable bike that I can go out and ride on.
My new Enduro should fit the bill nicely. I may get two wheelsets and maybe a coil-over rear shock for dedicated DH stuff but that's it.
Other than that I have been practicing wheelies so that I am more comfortable on one wheel and will eventually be able to manual or coaster wheelie for more than 20-30' at a time. I practice when I ride to work and back each day. I used to be one of those people who thought you were either a wheelie person or you weren't but now I realize that is only true to a certain extent and with practice they get much easier and more consistent.
160 lbs is the target weight im 170 now, down from 180 a month ago.
Rock Manuals much better
