I know Ronin said in a podcast that he specifically has in his contract that he can race whatever he wants outside of Word Cups. I'm willing to bet he's not the only one.

As an Asa fanboy, I would love to see what would have happened if he didn't get shook up off that first drop. The kid is amazing. He is the youngest to ever compete in Hardline, had the fastest time through the middle and lost by .23 seconds with third being 2.3 seconds off.

Or did he?
Kid is going places. Frameworks did an epic job getting him. I'd wager he's being thrown some decent offers by other companies now.

Last time I mentioned how framework are lucky to have asa I was told that he may have a part ownership as part of his deal.

And miss out on the lucrative tens of dollars in prize money the UCI World Cup offers???? Are you mad?
I listened to the ride companion podcast with Reece Wilson and was dumbfounded by Reece saying he chose DH as it seemed like he could actually make a living from it, unlike moto.

Why dumbfounded?

He wasn't good enough at moto to be a top earning racer here in Scotland. Nevermind the world.

Reece does have an arrogant side (fair enough really) where he often makes quite a lot of massively over confident remarks about himself. Both regarding DH and when talking in hindsight about moto. There's an almost 3hr podcast (gypsy tales) just out where probably half of it is him comparing himself with moto guys.
I really hope he does well this year and lives up to his own hype with the new team. Through injuries and mediocre performances the guy has stayed in the money in DH by the skin if his teeth with many sponsorship deals fueled by his own hype more than current results. That last good WC result I'd say came just in time at another make or break point in his career. A ridiculously talented DH rider but being very presentable is his biggest asset really.

The idea that you can make real money in dh… I wasn’t aware anyone was doing that except for a very select few and the chutzpah to say I’m going to be one of those guys is pretty impressive. Guy manifested himself a career

Mate the dude's been swanning around here in Lotus' sports cars while injured. Ie. Not even working.
That's hardly social security money
Guy manifested himself a career
Not entirely. He's an undoubtedly fantastic DH ruder. But a lot of his career path was more down to luck. Right time right place sorta thing. Than manifest. Dude was just about to be dropped like a ton of bricks before the world champs win.
Call it luck. Call it opertunity. Call it hard work and comittment. But right from his first meeting with RC to going BASE to getting a spot on Eddie's team. to Unior/Trek and then TWR it all just fell together. Very well. There's a ton of other very talented Scottish Juniors went down a similar path... With wildly different outcomes. Many still successful. Not as much as DH racers tho.
