My mom has a beginner's oboe that she wants to get rid of.. but we're not sure where to sell it. I was thinking of throwing it on craigslist, but I have no idea how much to ask. She was wondering if $700 is reasonable - it's a Selmer, in good shape, and we just had it tuned. What do you guys think?

i sold a piccolo trumpet "online", so to speak. i sold it through a trumpet players' mailing list that i'd been a member and participant of for several years. your best bet is ebay unless you know of an equivalent list and are willing to put in the time to establish some credibility.

got a high school or middle school nearby? sell it there. how much was it new?

man, nothing sounds worse than a clarinet player who thinks he/she can play an oboe just 'cause is has a reed...albeit a double reed.
