I figured I’d post a link for the “Operation Northwoods” documents, just in case anyone was interested in taking a look. (open the PDF's)

http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/news/20010430/

They’re now unclassified, so take a peek. The first several pages seem to be redundant BS, but the real meat of the plan starts around page 7. Check out where they’re talking about the self inflicted terrorist campaigns inside the U.S.

After all the bickering about that 911 film, I thought some of you might want to see some real docs.

interesting, this talk of a "rescue operation ... to 'evacuate' remaining members of the non-existent crew" followed by the astute note that "casualty lists in US newspapers would cause a helpful wave of national indignation."

good to know that we've been manipulated since at least the 60s. :dead:

I think one thing to be kept in mind, is that the Gov't planners are contsnatly coming up with insane plans that will never see the light of day. That is what they are paid to do, come up with plans. For everything and anything.

So ya, some nonsense like this has been created in the past, no question there, but were most likely not even taken seriously and thrown in the box labeled "possible plans to blackmail cuba if fidel gets too big for his britches".

Good point Transcend, but the "insane plans" usually consist of attacks on other countries, not ourselves.

As for not taking it seriously, the man who ultimetely shot this plan down was JFK, who didn't make it another year through his political career.

I think there is a few other documented cases of plans that include action on US soil. Remember, this wasn't a DIRECT attack on citizens...it was a mock attack, staged. I am pretty sure there is probably numerous plans in the books that could be used to sway public opinion or action in an emergency. It would almost seem silly if they DIDN'T have these sorts of plans.

I could see the Cuban plans being useful if say, Cuba had managed to hide the Soviet missiles better. If intelligence had an inkling they may be there, but no proof, this campaign could have come into play to help sway public opinion if an attack was planned to find out IF there was indeed missiles.

No missiles found; no problem! We didn't go here to find missiles, we came to punish them for attacks on Miami.

Missiles found; Hey guys, look what we discovered!

Come to think of it, it sounds familiar, recent even...

And no, I don't think the attack ont he world trade center was one of these "plans". I find it extremely hard to believe that they would sacrifice 3000+ of their own simply to sway public opinion.

I'd believe it if no one was hurt and the building was less of a national icon though.

Your right, most of it seemed like mock attacks. My concern would be with the inadvertently lost lives, due to performing such operations. The terrorist campaigns could not have been successfully completed without someone dying or seriously getting hurt; could they have?

As far as “sacrifice” on 911 goes, just look what our government put its men through during Vietnam. Not only “sacrifice”, but all kinds of well known, unwarranted warfare experiments. And there we were talking about a hell of a lot more of our own kind than 3000.

This type of “enrage the people with a self inflicted wound” technique has been going on a lot longer than you think. Take a look at what Hitler did with his burning of the Reichstag Building.

Glance at that Pentagon building picture I just posted on a new thread, you tell me if that doesn’t look a little fishy.
