Slacking at work
I've seen some pretty sad attempts at the General Lee and K.I.T.T. that generally make me want to punch the owner in the forehead.

But this morning I saw a replica of Herbie the Punchbug on my way to work. Thing was freakin' PERFECT. Looked like it could have been from the movies.

But I still wanted to punch the owner in the forehead.

I have seen a few General Lee's around that look pretty good, and the occasional Grand Torino with the Starsky & Hutch Stripe.

I see a General Lee every time I drive by Cooter's place on my way out to Skyline drive. They've usually got a bunch of people there taking pictures in front of it.

And no, never painted my car.

There's a Herbie here. I will try to get a pic, since it is on the way to the trails. I was meaning to take a pic for stevew. The guy has a VW joint.

Pressure sensitive film.

"Films instead of paint – the Audi A4 DTM design

Modern racing cars are no longer being painted
18 days until the start of the 2006 DTM
During the official DTM test drives at Brands Hatch (England) and the DTM presentation in Düsseldorf next weekend the Audi A4 DTM cars will be seen for the first time in the new colours and designs for the 2006 season. Yet the liveries are no longer "painted” on the vehicles: Modern racing cars are completely covered with pressure-sensitive film.

There are several reasons why the design of an Audi A4 DTM hardly involves the use of classical paint any more: The high-performance films are lighter and less expensive than paint, and it is easier to spot-repair damage from chipping, for example. In addition, there are no problems with different colour hues, and neither does the "paint off the roll” need to dry.

The high-tech films are available in a vast array of colours, giving the vehicle its basic colour. Sponsors’ logos, inscriptions and the drivers’ names, which this year will be displayed in large letters on the cars, as well as the competition numbers are created by digital printing, and cut out using computer-controlled equipment. Then, classical handwork is used to press the films against the surface where they are smoothed out with a felt-covered roller to prevent scratching.

Thanks to the films it is much easier to "repaint” the cars than it used to be. As such, Martin Tomczyk’s last year’s blue Audi very quickly became Christian Abt’s new black A4…"

Oddly enough, I have no Herbie pics.

Just the Cutty Sark bus...

I actually saw a "Garthmobile" in San Felipe, Mexico - the guy was cruising the main drag, blasting that Mexican music that all sounds the same. Powder blue gremlin, but with bigger flames.

Front Range, dude...
Why would you punch them in the forehead? Are you trying to make a maraca out of your hand? Nothing beats a nice, sharp short punch to the breadbasket. Except maybe a good old throat punch...

one of the "Herbies" (cause they used a bunch of them for filming) is now in Ohio, and makes frequent appearences in the Pittsburgh area during car shows...

other than that, I have been to a few VW shows and always wanted to show up with my Vanagon painted like the Magnum PI van:thumb:

I painted a naked chick on the hood of my friend's cooper mini.

the best part is that she worked on a military base.
Wouldn't it have been easier to paint her while she was standing up.
