Im new to this disk brake thing and just installed a set of Hayes HFX Comps on my Heckler. Curiosity got the better of me and I took the rear caliper apart - doh! It's back together and I re-blead the system but the lever has much more movement than the front brake which I didnt touch....it's like having a slack brake cable - the brakes still work but the lever moves too much before the pads contact.

Im quite sure I have got any air out of the lines. Before bleeding I read the Hayes manual and pushed the caliper pistons back into the body. I was wondering if I dont do this surely I could get more fluid in the system and the lever wouldnt move as much????

Any pointers much appreciated.

Ymight still a bit of air in there. Re bleed. You need to have the master cylinder, the lever as the highest point of the system EVEN THE HOSE. The air bubbles can be quite tiny and will stay at the top of any loop in the hose.

Tapping the caliper line and lever with tool can help dislodge any bubbles too.
