My stock Hayes lines sprung a leak a month ago and I decided to throw down for some new Goodridge lines (http://www.goodridge.net).

Anyway, it's super easy to remove the Hayes lines from the caliper, but I can't for the life of me figure out how it comes out of the reservoir/lever!!!

I've tried twisting it and twisting it, but nothing happens. I can see threads in there, but nothing seems to be "unthreading", ya know?

Anyone have any experience pulling stock lines from the HFX-9 levers? Thanks!!!

Check the pix of the lever in its current state (I love camera phones!!!)

I just went to the Hayes Web site and printed out the PDF versions of their service kits. The have one that talks about the HFX-9 Master Cylinder rebuild, but supposedly after I take the nut off the end, the hose should just pull right out!!!

Yeah, right... I have pulled it and tried to unthread it and it ain't going anywhere.

Anyone have any ideas of what the heck I'm doing wrong?

I can't see much in your photos but it should just pull off. Sometimes it takes a significant force though. Try to cut off the olive if it just won't come off. A dremel cut off wheel to cut on each side does nicely. Then if you really need to you can carefully cut off the hose from the barbed nipple.

I got a pretty quick response from Hayes on this...

We had a small number of HFX-9 systems in early production where the hose insert flares out and makes the hose difficult to remove. That seems to be the case here.

If the hose and hardware are sticking in the MC body, here's how to remove them:

1. Have someone hold the MC firmly on the edge of a bench or clamp it gently but securely in a vice.
2. Attach a vice-grips to the hose.
3. Using a hammer and punch, tap the jaws of the vice-grips until the hose comes out.

If this does not work or you are not comfortable doing this, please give Dave or I a call at 888-686-3472. We will arrange to have you send your brakes to us for repair.
Sounds like I'll just need to yank it or send it in... here goes!
