just wondering if it was possible to use a hayes lever (to keep the hayes ON-OFF, no modulation feel) with a Hope M6 caliper via a respectively fitted Goodridge line?????

yes ? no ? any thoughts?

im sure you could do it, not sure how it would work. The modulation/hope feel is in the caliper, not lever. the new mini-trials has a on/off feel almost no modulation and uses the same lever

well, both really. The master cylinder area has to be matched properly to the caliper piston area (and the lever actuation provides the other half of the equation), thats why you just cant randomly swap levers and calipers, or brake pedals from your car.

well, maybe i'm lucky here. i've been running XT lever/reservoir bodies with hope C2 calipers(both closed systems) for almost 3 years now............

i guess you are.

I remember someone measured the difference in piston areas between the Minis and Hayes and they were way off.

My hope levers have a dial to allow for brake fluid expansion and on long runs they do require adjustment. Also, doesn't the XT system use mineral oil as opposed to dot 3/4/5?

I would be interested to know how these issues are addressed. Maybe I can keep my calipers and just replace the levers?

i use the brakeset for urban so they don't heat up, so no need to mess with the reservoir size. i initially tried this after i broke my hope resi and had an XT lever body laying around.
and i just use mineral oil in them. i tried dot 4, but the oil started to deform the original rubber seal on the top of the reservoir, so i replaced the fluid with the shimano stuff..........
