So I'm buying a giant glory and the gut is telling me he wants to swap the shimano for the hayes "for me cause the shimano always need work". Is he trying to jack me? I've never had shimano saint so I don't know

I run the older(2007) saints and have never had a problem.
If I read that right, he's saying he wants to give you the shimanos and keep the hayes?
Take the shimanos and run. They are the opposite of his description: rarely need maintenance, run forever, offer good all around performance. The newer ones are better, the old ones are pretty damn fantastic.

Nope. Saints are far better. If you bought it with Saints, keep, em.

If the price you agreed on for the bike was with the Saints, then have him cut a few hundred dollars off the price. Saints are expensive.

Go with the saints. i've ridden hayes and i must say shimano is so much better and last longer
There's nothing wrong with new style Hayes by the way, but he said Hayes Mags which are no comparison to Saints.
If its not already clear, keep the saints lol
