Ok, I was just kidding, I can't afford hopes!

I am buying a new set of brakes. I was wondering where a good place to buy them would be, Jenson is backordered on mags, so that's out, and pricepoint is overpriced.

Id wait a bit and get el caminos. Basically the same thing, only 1 piece caliper, and cool adjuster dial instead of stripable tiny bolt. (of course the dial will probably break, but i digress)

yeah but if he can't afford Hopes won't the El Camino be about the same price range??....D
According to hayes, it will not be MUCH mroe expensive then the mags. I figure probably about $155/$160 a wheel, hopes are much more expensive arent they?

Hopes are like 200 and up. I hear they're nice, but I just can't justify that.
HFX-9's are they even worht buying?? THey are so cheap!!
Are purples good by today's standards? I figure that even if a brake is old, it shouldn't matter. Hydraulic brakes have been around for decades on cars.

I heard that they had problems with heating and that they felt nothing like regular hayes (solid feel).

Then I hard about how some Hayes Tech were in Whistler doing some testing and had some problems (after El Camino's got announced.)

Then I saw this thread on DropMachine.com HERE

Although a big Hope fan, I was considering giving those a try, but now I have my doubt. I'll let Fraser give me a full report ;)

Will do! I spoke to them a few weeks ago, and was told there was some bugs to work out, but that they could be set very progressive, oir very solid (a la old hayes). Hopefully they get it sorted out, as a dial adjustment would kick ass!

I shall let ya know what happens.

theres nothing wrong with that, personally ive heard that the brakes have internal flex felt due to heat modulation transfers in the quantium lubrication spherical bearing capicitators inside the tri-quad roller bearing race engagement extractor

well, considering it was mentioned by Hayes tech that some "bugs to work out", that pretty much alludes to a non-finalized version. And no need to get snippy, I'm pretty sure even you've complained about e-speculation, because then it turns into e-truth...hell already its hit mtbr that the brakes arent 'all-that'...gimmee a break

I've been too lazy to re-bleed my front mono mini 180, but its the weakest brake I've ever owned from the factory. Everyone who has felt it agrees, how about some QC :stosh: Its weird cause my mono6 is feels like it could be better also, but both the rear hope brakes were bled well from the factory. The front should be the easiest for them to get right...

Just a little hint about the purples. Hayes doesn't make parts for them anymore so if you're like me and like to run into trees and smash your brakes it'll be hard to find replacement parts for them.
