I rebuilt my Hayes HFX-9 levers this morning, just one problem. Every now and then when I press the brake levers they feel slightly sticky. Does anyone what this is caused from?

What exactly did you do to the lever? Replace the lever or the resevoir?

Could be the pistons self adjusting. It feels like that sometimes after you've pushed them back in to bleed. But that stickiness should go away.

Go ride it one time and see if it still does it.

this could be the spacer touching the piston as well, once you ride it a few times the c clip and spacer should set in place properly and the piston will fit through the opening better. This is my best guess.

Right, right, like I said it's only someimes...I'll just have to deal with it or buy some Hopes (I think there over rated).
