hdtv & cables - new thread so I don't hijack Narlus'

We had to replace a tv and since tubes are pretty much out these days, we went to Costco and got a good deal on this Sammy:

Probably overkill for the room but WTH - it had a nice picture and it fits the space.

Now - as of now, there is no cable box - so no hdtv. I hooked up some component video cables to the dvd player because my dvd player instructions said I need that to use the progressive scan. It does support HDMI and I'm guessing from Narlus' thread - that's the way to go - is that right? Also, I looked on that cable site monoprice.com - yeah, overload - which one do I get?

And feel free to talk to me like I'm dumb because I'm a little overwhelmed :)

How do you like the picture on it? Not to hijack your thread, but I am going to need a new TV soon.

There are lots of places to get good deals on hdmi cables. If you are looking for special cables and other unique needs, I like this place:

http://www.ramelectronics.net

I got a nice long white DVI cable for the cheapest I could find.

I use monoprice cables for all of my cable purchasing needs. ridiculously cheap, and very well made.

Also, what he said. HDMI is the ideal way as it's a digital to dgital connection. Component is an analog connection, so the signal gets changed to analog then back to digital, and you lose quality in both conversions.
