ok so the headset is stuck. its an fsa and the ring that presses the bearings tighter is stuck on my steerer tube just shy of being tight...i have beat the thing repeateddly to move it/loosen it but nothing..anyone have any suggestiongs? there is a slit in the ring but its really small and i havn't found anything small enought to pry it out..

Get yourself some penetrating oil, and drip it all around the split ring so it can get in between the ring and the steerer. WD-40, despite its many negative uses on a bike, is very useful here too.

Let the oil or wd40 soak in for a few minutes, apply some more, and let the whole thing sit for an hour or so. Then, whack the sh it out of it with a wooden or rubber mallet. That should break it free.....
