I know there are variables, but if I have a headtube (cups not included) that is 4.3/4" long what is the smallest size steerer tube I could have. The forks I just bought seem like they are too short at approx. 8". Besides buying a new upper assembly, is there any tricks anyone has used to make something similar to this work. Thanks!

Get a headset stack measurement, then add spacer height and the height of your stem.

lower your total stack height by getting either a low stack stem and/or headset.
