Death Panel selection party @ Casa De Pesqueeb 1830! Socialist manifesto reading starts at 1900 followed by Margaritas and homosexual agenda until we run out of tequila or Focus on the Family shows up with the cops.

so are the rich white people still paying for it?
Its a tax cut for the rich, its more expensive for the healthcare system to pay for uninsured patients prior to the national scheme. Healthcare cost go down for a system everyone uses regardless of the laws.

Everyone else can just move to Mexico or Turkey if they want to stay in the only remaining industrial nations without it.

I'm glad someone else caught the CNN thing. When I checked the CNN website right when the news broke they were all about "Obamacare is dead!". Meanwhile I had a video stream running talking about how it was all being upheld. So  for a couple minutes. It seemed like one of those "slips" that Faux news somehow seems to keep making.

And yes, in this case the "VBS" stands for vacation bible school........

It is quite entertaining to watch them stumble over the facts in their pursuit of said "loop". Especially the look on their face when they realize the contradiction and the following moment as they grasp for some Faux News sound bite to back them up.

Wait, let me guess, it went something like this:

JohnE - How can you support the death penalty but oppose abortion?
Xian - Easy, the criminal has been convicted of a crime, and there for should be punished. The fetus pre-baby is innocent of any crime.
JohnE - But Jesus has said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Can we really claim that our government, or a jury is free from sin?
Xian - Well, maybe he really didn't mean that....
JohnE - He also said, "remove the beam from your own eye before attempting to take the spec out of you neighbor's".
Xian - But the Bible says that the penalty for murder is *death*!
JohnE - That's in the Old Testament, where they also say that the death penalty should be imposed on disobedient children and that raped women must marry their rapists.
Xian - Oh now don't be ridiculous.
JohnE - I'm not, if you're going to quote Old Testament rules, then you can't cherry-pick. By the way, are you wearing a poly-cotton blend by any chance?

Almost verbatim...asked another one whether he opposed abortion on religious or political grounds. He says both...and goes ino a rant about how killing babies is legal, but crushing bald eagle eggs will send you to jail...I say so you are a Christian now? You know how the rest of it went...

if by some stroke of sorcery...romney and his magic undergarments get elected...will we get the same people swearing they will move....

....and not follow through.
I'll be the first to say it: I won't move, because I can make a lot more money here than in Canada. It's as simple as that. I'll also be able to afford health insurance, either through premiums or taxes, and honestly Romney's policies would leave me more money in my pocket.

My interest in the country goes beyond my own pocketbook, though, and I think that Obama, flawed domestic-spying war-hawk that he is, would be better for the country (not to mention infinitely more to my liking on social policies) as a whole.

If we ever go full Brawndo and elect, say, a Palin, though...

^^^^Did, uh, you miss the part about how all of the people threatening to leave due to socialized medicine are threatening to go to a country with *actual* socialized medicine? It would be like people upset by GW's election threatening to go to.... Zimbabwe.

I get that. I was replying to stevew's quip about liberals leaving should Romney win, independent of SCOTUS/ACA action.

so i sat in my blues clues thinking chair (steve, not joe) and believe this might have the widest appeal to both sides of the full-throated screaming match: if you don't want to pay, fine; then you opt out of both coverage *AND* care.

i could standup a db tonight that would serve as a registry of those who opt-out, and put this up on amazon cloud services for a few hundred dollars per year. there would be a 30 day grace period following your 26th birthday where you are covered, after which time the batch is uploaded through the gateway to the hosted HA cloud. so when the bus shows up to begin to put your unconscious ass back together after the juggalo gathering, they can scan for the rfid chip in the scruff of your neck to see if you're approved for care, or if they should take you to a landfill, transportation expensed to project overhead.

we done here?

I could get on board with this.
