Shut up and Ride
I bought a heart rate monitor, ben wearin it biking & jogging - the highest I saw was 167. I have it set to beep when my HR goes over 155, which when jogging it takes about 3/4 to 1 mile to hit.

So I did a 5k race, the start was a mess (too many people up front that were slow) so about 1/8 of a mile in I'm already beeping, I look and see 170, I tried to get it down / pace my self cause I didnt think I could last 25 minutes at 170 plus, but it stayed at 170-172 except when I walked for 30 seconds but went right back up to 170.....I really pushed hard at the finish to get under 25 minutes, I wish I looked at what it was then - I'm thinking well over 180

My max HR should be 220-37(my age)=183, correct ?

Polar ones are ALWAYS on sale somewhere. There are a lot of different kinds, you have to determine what exactly you want to be able to do with it and then select a model that fits your needs.
