Here is my bike (I just love seeing pictures of it on the web)

The bike build is...
Large Heckler, Talas Fork, 5th Element Air shock, XT drive train, LX cranks and BB, Hayes HFX Hydraulic brakes, Front Mavic x3.1, w/xt hubs-Panaracer XC 2.1 UST, Rear Mavic D3.1 with XT hub-Maxxis Larsen tt 2.0, thompson seat post, richey stem and bars. All and all just under 29lbs.

I have had a few problems with the bushings being pushed out of the pivot, however Progressive sent me a new part (heim (SP?)bearing sleeve?) that they say addresses the issue. So far so good, however I will need another 100 miles or so to see if the problem re-occurs with the same frequency. Check this previous thread

I absolutely love the ride. Coming from a medium Sugar + it is not as roomy (I have a 120mm stem on the Heckler) as the genisis geometry, but it is better in every other aspect. I do not live anywhere near a sustained climb, but on the short steep climbs we have here along with the one BIG bridge we hit on our Urban ride pedal induced bob is not noticable in the saddle. If you like to stand and hammer the pedals you will need to use the lock-out on the Talas if you have it.

Down what? I live in Florida   :(

I have not taken the bike to any place where there is any sustained Downhill. However the Fox Talas and 5th Element air work very well together, going down the steep ups and downs we have here.

Ok after 2 months of chasing the same problem with the pivot bearings in the 5th Element Air, I give up. It is going back and I am going with the 5th Element Coil. I really did not want to add the weight to the bike, but SC will not give or offer me a ProPedal Fox, and I really do not want to ride a 5" single pivot bike without some kind of Stable Platform technology.

It boils down to this. The pivot bushings in the 5th Element Air are designed to give the shock some rotational play. Apparently this is to realive some stress on the eyelets. This is probably a great idea on a bike like the Blur where the shock mounts are not the ONLY structural connection between frame and swingarm. The pivot bushings are tapered to allow that rotational play, then there is a rubber bushing, well between the taper and the rubber bushing the force created by the single Pivot CONSTANTLY pushes the rubber bushings out. So every 3-5 rides there ends up being a ton of play in the pivot.

It is truly a shame because when it was working it Felt like PERFECTION. In addition my LBS, Santa Cruz and Progressive have been very cooperative and understanding. They say they are aware of the issue, apologized and are working on a solution. I just do not want to wait and the LBS that carries Santa Cruz is just too far from work and home to go visit every 3 rides.
