Today's training plan said to do a 4 hourish ride so I pulled out the Bend riding map and whaddaya know - I found a suitable route. I packed stuff up and wrote Derek a little note describing where I thought I'd be heading and off I went.

This ride started up at elevation by Mt. Bachelor and headed North and a bit east. Again - all singletrack, but a mixture of high desert with tons of rocks, and then the usual forests with lush green everywhere. I crossed a river a bunch of times, saw a lake, and rode along the waterfalls. What a day!

Here are some pics.

What the hell is that? I spy with my pretty little eye....a butt, boobs, or something more phalic?

Dude, you're giving up THAT to go back to work? THE HORROR!!!

Yah, :( I can still ride for 3-4 hours after work since it stays dark so long and all these trails are so close to my house.

Beautiful. Simply Beautiful.

Heidi, may I ask you how for is this from where you live? I mean is that indicative of a daily ride close to your place? My company has offices in Oregon, and I am curious as to what it's like up there. Thanks.

I am jealous of your ride. I would give almost anything to go on a 4 hour ride right now. (Broken leg)

That ride was about 15-20 min drive from my house, that's going the speed limit too! There are a lot of rides I do just leaving from my house, and some I drive 5-10 minutes for. Then there are a ton of options 15-20 minutes, 20-40 minutes, and 40minutes to 1.5 hours. Where is Oregon does your company have offices?

There's a trail out here me and this equestrian girl put some bra's on tree's and stuffed em full of leaves and pinecones. Pinecones work good to achieve the illusion that it's cold or nippily... Maybe you should find some kind of huge bra for that tree.

beauty pics by the way, it appears as if you've found your slice of paradise.

You sure about your Metolius river location there? Weren't you up on North Fork?
I don't know what river it was, I started across 46 from Todd Lake and rode up Metolius Windigo through Happy Valley (woohoo- was I happy!), then across Mrazek, down Farewell, up North Fork and back up Metolius and down to Todd Lake.

Father forgive me, I lost track of what mountains were what.

I think one of those is "broken top"................I think.

Was that part of the Descutes river trail you rode on, or Phil's trail or both?

Anyway, Bend rocks as far as XC riding goes..........I love it up there.

We have offices in quite a few places. Of course never having been to Oregon, they may all be within a couple of blocks of each other and I just don't know it. From what I can tell we're in: Beaverton, Lake Oswego, Salem, illsboro, Portland, and Tigard. We also have offices in Washington, including Seattle and Vancouver. I work for Kaiser Permanente.

I was thinking that I would transfer up there for a few years. Get out of So Cal for a while. After seeing the pix of your ride now I really want to move up there. :thumb:
