i have a nice cliff at my place and want some ideas for the landing. any ideas? i want it so you can hit it big or small, but not like shleyer. i also am trying to think of things never done before. thanks for the help.

yeah, sorry, by shleyer, i mean, i don't know, that one drop in whistler were the landing starts right after the drop and its super long.

are you looking to make it a drop or more of a ladder roller? I would say hit it as is in the first pic, just clean up the landing a bit. If you want a smaller drop, I'm sure you can find another rock in the area or just make it completely out of wood. Start small, you will find that up to about 12-15' drops with good tranny feel about the same as 5-10' to shallow tranny, it's after that (15'+) that things get nuttier.
im looking to build a large drop about 12 to 15 ft. but also like a step down.
hows about you use the tree and make a tranny low on the tree then you can make some other stunts off of that so it just isnt limited to the drop. but it needs to be a huge drop yeh everybody does that but it still doesnt loose its appel to a non biking chick who thinks a 2 foot drop is huge. so go with the huge 12 footer with a seesaw or something on it.

Hey - stoner 303 - If you are in the Denver area (hopefully around Evergreen) feel free to PM me - I have more experience building houses, ramps, etc than I want to think about, all the tools we would need- compressor, nail guns, etc and would be more than happy to help you build something (hell, multiple somethings) - provided I could hit it too
Make a tranny 10 ft out with pungee sticks so you have to commit.
Seriously, whats wrong with Schleyer? I've hit that a hundred times and it is pretty easy to get all of the tranny. If you come up short, the wood saves you. If you build it like your second pic, if you land 50/50 on that little step down, you might get bucked.

One way to make it a little more burly would be to put a landing transition about 8 - 10 feet out, which will make it more like a big step down gap jump. Just chop the first part off your idea in the second pic.
You could also build a launchable skinny straight off the cliff, like a few feet at least, that would throw you further off, then again have a gap of say 10 - 15 feet to a different landing transition.

I agree with OG. Build it as a gap
if i was to pile up enough dirt to have a good sized landing, i would have to take my wheel barrow, fill it up with dirt and then bring it to the landing area roughly a billion time. there is no good dirt within 500 yds of the cliff. plus, everything is very steep. right under the little plants and stuff is like an inch of pine needles, then rock.me89 said:

Make it a gap jump to a platform that traverses back in forth like in Super Mario Bros. If you get your timing wrong you will fall into a pit and die, or at least get smaller and lose your ability to throw fire balls.

You'll need to get your building materials there somehow, dirt or wood. The easiest thing will be to just work with what's there and build a dirt landing. BUt since you asked for creative ideas, we're gonna come up with stuff that will take more material and more work...it won't build itself!!
