I am about to install a 2 ring Bash setup for a 2002 Foes Fly. The lower roller assembly mounts to the BB shell and a tab under the BB. The lower roller assembly is from Foes/MRP, the bash ring is Blackspire, and the BB/Cranks are Shimano XT (not sure about spindle length). I just want to make sure I understand the process since I can't find any pics of this system.

So I guess I back out the drive side BB cup from the BB shell and then install the lower roller assembly by placing it around the spindle and then tighten the BB cup down on the roller assembly?

Do I need to back out the non-drive side of the BB first or anything like that?

Also it doesn't seem like there is room in between the granny ring and the bb shell for this assembly. It is possible that I need a BB with a longer spindle? Or are there other tricks I should know about? I suppose it may just fit but it looks way tight.

If I do get a different spindle length, will I have chain line issues? What anchors the spindle within the frame's BB shell? Is it attached to one of the BB Cups in some way (sorry but the BB area has always been voodoo to me).

Thanks for any help.

Thefoes tech guide, helps a little , tho not much.

----------> You have described the assembly correctly.

Allit said was BB is a 68mm shell, and wouldn't tell you the spindle length! I imagine 113mm spindle. since the fly is front derailleur compatible it should be fine. At least give it a try!

Better yet call Foes: 626.683.8368

Just posting an update so this will be archived....

I put the chain guide on as stated in the first post. Then I discovered that the BB axel was not long enough (the non-drive crank could not get around the frame).

I had to get a 68mm X 118mm BB and now it is all working fine. However, my chain line kinda sucks. Granny to the large cog in back has way more angle then I would like, but it seems to work. I don't know how to improve chain line without getting a different crank/BB setup.
