S. Cruz bullit "01"
kore lite 2 post
azonic shorty stem
world force bars
hayes mag brakes
deore shifters
odi loc on grips
stratos dh pro shock
stratos s7 fork
truvativ hussy cranks
e-13 drs
deore cassette
xt derailur front and rear
deemax rims
maxxis minion tires 40d 26X2.35 wire bead
dh tubes

I was thinking of doing stans tubeless system, except I weigh 205lb and they are not to sure of going tubeless on original deemax 36 spokers.
I weigh in at 43 pound now, I am not willing to give up the s7 or the helix pro dh. I want to come in at 39-41 lbs if possible.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

New cranks, lighter bar and stem combo, tubeless if u want. If those tires are not singleply get XC tubes. Maybe run an SDG Ibeam setup.

I have been told that a thomson post and stem, xt cassette and stans tubless with a kevlar bead or ust tire would put me in that range.
The fork is only 8.3lbs so for the benifits I get from it being ultra stiff are worth the little extra weight. Probably a TI spring would shave some without sacraficing my as _.

1. Go with an XT cassette, drops about 100 g.
2. Change the bars to Easton Monkeylite DH carbon. According to them, the strongest bars on the market (sure), but it will drop 300g
3. WTB Weirwolfs. The Kevlar bead tires are about 800 grams, and it would be about 200 grams less.
4. Holzfeller instead Hussfelt. I think 100 grams there as well.

Really you're not going to be able to drop much weight if you insist on keeping that fork, it's just a pig. You'll spend far more buying expensive carbon and titanium parts to drop a few grams from the handlebars, seat post and such than you would selling the fork and getting something like a boxxer. I wouldn't reccomend WTB tires, although they're light, I don't know anybody who's actually liked them unless they do a lot of riding in sand.

I would change cassette, use reg tubes, different crankset. I think the Saint or Diabolus are significantly lighter (but expensive). Maybe consider removing front shifter, small chain ring, and deraileur altogether. If you are going to kevlar tire (I wouldn't rec. it) consider the Blue Groove/Nevegal set-up

Yep.. Seems silly. You'll be dropping mere grams here and there.

Tubeless will cut a pound or more from your setup depending on the weight of those tubes.

However, you could knock a couple pounds off your bike in one go by switching to something like an 888 or Slider+. I see no reason why the 888 would be significantly flexier than your S7. It would mean dropping a lot of cash, though. A Ti spring on your shock will save weight without sacrificing an ounce of performance (but again, that's costly).

The cheap weight savings will be in those heavy tubes, and you could go to some Holzfeller cranks as well as was suggested above.

BAR

I disagree with Carbon Bar. Too much $$$ and is only TENS of grams lighter than the EA70 bar.

Stick w/ 2-plys, and run lighter tubes. I'm not 200# but I get away with XC tubes @ 25-30psi for weeks and weeks. Try finding Performance XC Tubes with slime inside (helps prevent pinholes, small pinches), or IRC 'Light' DH Tubes...GO-RIDE has them.

NORCAL is the hizzle
I think the WTB tires suggested earlier are just too thin for someone who is 205lbs on a 40 pound bike, they get cut easily and you'll need to run like 80 pounds of pressure...yes that's right, they are too flexy...

Go tubeless and lose the DH tubes. At the very least run an XC tube in front if you're not already doing that.

Swap the cranks out for a new two peice set like new XT. The cranks themselves are lighter and so is the bb.

Depending on the kind of riding you're doing you might be able to get rid of your bashguard.

Don't know the weight on the rear shock but if it's coil, maybe go for a ti spring, or swap it for a DHX/ti spring combo if that will be lighter.

But like others have said, you can easily lose 1.5 lbs or more by changing the fork to a slider or 888. If those forks are not "stiff" enough then stop worrying about how much your bike weighs.

drop 10lbs off of the engine and the bike will feel 20lbs lighter.

(absolutely zero worthwhile to add to this post, other than the fact that my old bullit with Fox RC and an 02 Super T was 39 pounds with 2.6 Gazzis, DH tubes, Singletracks, etc. Oh yeah, and ditch the cassette, it's a freakin' anchor.)
