I'm trying to strip this frame clean before taking it to the bead blaster and then to the paintshop. There are two hex-screws that are stripped and quite possibly rusted in. What are my options for these things?

Also, there seem to be a pair of "cups" that are left over from the headset. Are these removable? How?

Is it just the heads that are stripped? An easy out would get them out or sometimes a torx bit will give you enough bite to get the bolt out..

Otherwise, you are going to have to drill it out. Those waterbottle(?) insert are kind of like rivets and may pop out.

Here is the tool. Pull it through until it expands in the headtube then couple of swacks with a hammer and cup will pop out. Good to have it over a towel or something so it does going flying around. Same tool can be made out of some pvc.

Edit -- I'm sure somebody will chime in with how they knock the cups out with a hammer and flat bladed screwdriver.

The first thing I'd try with the bolts is a set of vice grips... see if you can get a good hard grip on the edge of the bolt.

Another thing you could try is cutting a long strip in the bolt... a dremel tool would be ideal for that. Then remove them with a flathead screwdriver.

The headset cups can be removed with a big fat flat bladed screwdriver put in from the opposite end against the lip of the cup (inside the head tube), and whacked with a hammer. A better solution, though, is a headset cup remover that your LBS should have. Less chance of damaging your headtube.
