Ok, my kit build choices are:

Rockshox Pike 409 Air black
Rockshox Pike 454 U Turn black
Rockshox Pike 454 Air U Turn black (extra $, not sure how much)

I've never run a rock shox nor followed their technology, so any help you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks

it depends on your riding style.....if its going on a street bike or something that is going to take a beating stay away from the 454 because of the hollow crown. I have a Rockshox Pike 426coil and it seems to be the best one all around. it has a solid crown and an aluminum steerer tube.

As we all know, higher numbers and a larger price tag= better. I would just get the most expensive one and be done with it.
Thats what I did! I got a RS Pike 454 Air U-turn from 110-140 and its awesome. I usually stays in the 110 position. It has something on every corner of the fork...from rebound, positive/negative air, compression, lockout. Its awesome. You got my vote on the 454.

it'll be on a Planet X Splittail primarily used for freeride/north shore riding up in Vancouver

is the aluminum steer tube a bad thing for hard trail riding? ive heard that from some people
